Flowers and Star Wars and Harry, oh my! TR started, link inside!

Planning for two weeks is so much harder than planning for one week. With one week there is such a limited amount of time that the plans are very structured. When planning for two weeks there is so much extra time and free time that it makes it difficult for the trip planner to come up with a plan. Now that isn't really a "problem" except when it comes to making dining reservations.

There are a few things that are must do's on this trip.

1. Flower and Garden Festival
2. Star Wars Weekends
3. Universal Studios
4. Beaches and Cream
5. Via Napoli
6. Le Cellier

We have 10 day tickets for Disney with the water park option and two day tickets for Universal. That leaves us with three non-park days so those days will probably get spent at water parks. I was also considering a drive to the coast for some time at the beach.

So here is my plan for the moment

May 11th - Arrival Day
We should be at WDW by noon, hopefully our room will be ready, if not, no big deal. We will spend the afternoon getting settled which means a trip to the grocery store to stock up on breakfast foods and snacks. Lunch at Downtown Disney or perhaps off-site and then some pool time. We have two choices for dinner this night 1) Chef Mickey's at 5pm or Ohana at 6:40. I haven't decided which place we will eat at yet.

May 12th - Hollywood Studios
Lunch at 50's Prime Time
Fantasmic

May 13th - Animal Kingdom
Early entry breakfast reservation at Tusker House
Dinner at T-Rex at Downtown Disney?

May 14th - Epcot
Flower and Garden Festival
Lunch at Le Cellier (hopefully the lunch menu doesn't change too much since this is changing to a Signature restaurant for dinner).
Dinner ?

May 15th - Epcot
Flower and Garden Festival
Lunch at Beaches and Cream
Dinner at Via Napoli

May 16th - Magic Kingdom
Early Entry breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace
Dinner at The Plaza

May 17th - Universal

May 18th - Universal

May 19th - Day off
Probably a water park day
Breakfast at Boma
Dinner at Ohana or off-site

May 20th - open park day
Dinner at Medieval Times?

May 21st - Water park morning/afternoon, Magic Kingdom evening
Late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern

May 22nd - Star Wars Weekend at Hollywood Studios
Late lunch at Sci-Fi

May 23rd - open park day
Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare?

May 24th - off day
Breakfast at Ohana?

May 25th - Open Park day/Departure
Crystal Palace breakfast reservation

Nice looking plans but I have one question/comment. I'm probably saying something obvious that you know but just in case I'm going to say it anyway so that "assume" thing doesn't come into play.:rolleyes1

If you have Disney park passes for 10 days, and you have the water park option, you do know that means you have 10 days in parks AND 10 addtional entries into the water parks or Disney Quest??? The park entries are per day, but the water park credits are per entry. Counting 10 days in Disney parks and 2 days in Universal, the water park/Disney quest credits could be used up at the rate of 3 per day (one water park in the morning, a second one in the afternoon and Disney Quest at night) and you still wouldn't use them all up in three more days!!! That would cover all 15 days of your trip (including arrival and departure days) and you would still waste one of your water park credits.

Or did I completely misunderstand the ticket you have and all of that explanation was a waste of time??? :confused3

 Yep, I knew about the 10 day ticket = 10 water park/Disney Quest entries. All I meant by having three days "off" is that we can't enter one of the major theme parks on three of our days. ;)

Oooh, those plans look pretty good so far. Dinner at Medieval times is so fun!

I'm planning a 12 day trip for 2013 so you're knid of giving me ideas on how to spend it. I already know I want 3 days at epcot, 2 at mk, 2 at dhs, and 1 for AK.

Do you plan on going to Disneyquest at all? It looks like so much fun!

Disneyquest is definitely an option. I don't have it scheduled for a particular day though. Since the second half of the trip is much more flexible we will probably fit it in somewhere in there.

I have two days scheduled for Epcot so that we can fit in all the restaurants I want to eat at and so that I have lots of time to tour the park and take lots of pictures.

Two days for DHS, one regular day and one Star Wars day.

One AK day and one MK day. We will probably go to these parks more than once each but I only have the one "scheduled" day.

I'm starting to think we should add the park hopper onto our tickets but not sure it is worth the extra money. We can always add it on once we get there if we find we need/want it.

Yeah, park hoppers doesn't seem worth it at all for this trip. You have so many days to return to a park another day.

Control Lessa LOL, I guess you don't know her that well. she has a mind of her own. It is nice to have a personal planner, I get to sit back and relax while some else is stressing about the who, what and where. I have told Lessa my preference in lodging and she will do her best to please her dear ol' mom as she always does. The only thing Lessa cannot control are the Bros Grimm.

Beth those two are definately uncontrollable !!!:lmao:I'm sad we wont get to meet again next year but one day one day!!!!!:cloud9::hug:

I'd nix the Medieval Times-unless you really like that kind of dinner show and everything else-time period. In Wisconsin we have a month of Medieval Times and I know people that go every weekend. The love getting dressed up and participating.

I've eaten twice at the Pepper Market. The first time it was really good, and we were on the Dining Plan and and they considered it a CS which was a great deal. The 2nd time we stopped in on our last day before we flew home for breakfast. My dh loved it, but I had a bad breakfast. You can ask for things to be made fresh, like salads, sandwhiches, burrito's, etc., I don't know if this happens yet, but waitresses walk around and get you drinks and clean off your dirty plates and then you are suppose to tip them 18% I don't mind tipping, but I felt like I was being watched the whole time. As soon as I put down my drink, someone walked over to me, wondering if I wanted a re-fill.

You pay at the end, before you leave. You get a ticket and the food vendor stamps it at their station, when ou pick out your food choice.

Medieval Times is a definite must-do, we have been wanting to go for years and we decided that when we had a longer vacation we would go. It looks like a lot of fun and Alek and Erich will love it. I also found a coupon for 50% off! :thumbsup2

That's cool. At least you found a bargain. I went with my sons h.s. band 8 years ago. We left The Studios and missed Fantasmic to go to the show. They kids all loved it.

Plans look great so far. My moderate of choice these days would be CSR too. Can't wait to hear what you think of it. I'm so happy we got Le Cellier for dinner this past trip with one credit. I had not been there for dinner since 2002! It was still great. Hope it's just as great for lunch.

During your Universal days you should try Mythos in IoA. I haven't been for a couple of years but it still gets good reviews.

This cracked me up because it's something I would do. There is one in Toronto but you've waited for years to do it in Orlando! I live a very short distance from NYC (and Broadway), in Jersey, and saw the show Jersey Boys while on a visit home to Toronto.

Oh and I'm jumping into the pile of Canadians on board this thread. Hoping to visit home in February if the weather will allow.

If you are considering adding park hoppers to you tickets I would ditch the water parks option from them as it actually ends up being cheaper to buy a one day ticket to the water parks then adding them as an option on the tickets.

:thumbsup2 Just wanted to make sure! I figured you knew but I would rather type it and find out you knew, than assume and not say it and find out differently later. Plus it hasn't been that long since they upped it to one WP/DQ entry for each day on the ticket, so I didn't know if you were aware of that change. Sounds like you've got a pretty good plan together so far, although I know it will probably get tweeked a few times before you go. That's what us planners do!!! :rotfl2:

I wish you would quit badmouthing the Brothers Grimm like that!!!! :rolleyes1

:woohoo:Discount is always good!!! (unless you can get free....) ;)

Hey Lessa! Glad to see you guys have decided to move the trip up a year. :thumbsup2 And I had to laugh when you called your brothers the Brothers Grimm because I'm currently reading a memoir about them! :rotfl:

I have my whole meal planned out, so long as they don't change the menu!

During your Universal days you should try Mythos in IoA. I haven't been for a couple of years but it still gets good reviews.

I have heard about Mythos! That was on my list of things to try. The bad thing about waiting to do Universal until the Wizarding World opened is that now the whole park day depends on one small section of the park. It makes planning very difficult!

We knew about the one in Toronto but we figure the Orlando one is probably better (makes more money?) and also we didn't want to try and navigate Toronto. When we stop in Toronto it is very rare (zoo, Wonderland, Yorkdale), not much navigation required. ;)

:thumbsup2 You will freeze but have a great time. If it is at the very end of the month maybe we can have a meet!

We are going to be going to the water parks multiple times so it is actually going to be cheaper to get the water parks option on the ticket. You are right though, back in 2008 we just paid OOP for the water park as we only went once and it was cheaper than adding it to our ticket.

 Mom is always trying to tell me stuff about Disney and 99.9% of the time I already know what she is talking about. She persists anyways, one of these days she wants to best me in the Disney park knowledge department. If only I could remember all my lecture theory material as well as I do all this random info about WDW.

You are right, my plan will probably change several times, especially now that exams are almost over and I will have all of Christmas break to change things around with no distraction!;)

You can thank Rosie for that moniker. ;) How is the book, worth a read?

I just looked over your plans and we'll be in the same place a few times. We will be in EPCOT the 14th, MK on the 16th (right nowI have the Plaza for dinner, but I'm sure I'll change that 100 times before the trip) and maybe Universal the 17th (not 100%).

I would love having two full weeks to plan. I might be able to fit in a day to actually relax. I am so jealous! Your plans look great:thumbsup2

It's okay. It's considered a youth book although it's written at a higher level. It's interesting, but not sure I would recommend it. It's called The Brothers Grimm: Two Lives, One Legacy.

Relaxing on vacation is a strange concept in our family. We have never been to WDW and "relaxed", so this will be a new experience for us. :thumbsup2

Are you reading it for fun or as part of the boys' school curriculum?
