Has anyone ever gone to the Flower and Garden Show at Epcot?

I'm spending May 5 - May 9 in WDW with my family, but I'm the only true dedicated gardener. (i.e., I might have to do something on my own.)

Anything I shouldn't miss??? Thanks!:D

I was there last year during the festival. Epcot is just silly with flowers. I didn't do any seminars. I just enjoyed the flowers.

I'll be there at WDW when you are....:D Wanna meet up?

I've never been to the Flower & Garden Show at Epcot but it's on my list of things to do in my life. If you go, let me know how it is.

Here are a few of this years going ons:
Roger Swain (April 25-26) -- Former host of PBS-TV's "The Victory Garden," Roger Swain is known as the man with the red suspenders. Swain is the editor of Horticulture magazine and is an accomplished author. He will inspire guests as he explores gardening practices that help build strong neighborhoods and communities.
Paul James (May 2-3) -- Host of HGTV's "Gardening By the Yard," James uses his horticulture knowledge to live up to the name "the Gardener Guy." James answers gardening questions and provides helpful insights to this favorite pastime.
Jim Hynd (May 9-10) -- The vice president and co-owner of Fiesta Parade Floats where he has been floral director for 30 years, Hynd will showcase amazing designs from the Tournament of Roses Parade. Fiesta Parade Floats is the leading builder of award-winning floats in the prestigious parade. An expert floral artist, Hynd has been a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers since it was founded in 1965.
Also the Flower Power Concert Series:
5/3-4 Felix Cavaliere's Rascals at the American Gardens Theater at Epcot
5/6-8 Classic Rock All Stars Dennis Noda, Jerry Corbetta, Mike Pinera, Pete Rivera at the American Gardens Theater at Epcot
5/9-12 Paul Revere & The Raiders at the American Gardens Theater at Epcot
April 25-June 8 with a special display featuring the best topiaries from the past 10 years, including a 20-foot-tall floral peace sign, a larger than life double-decker bus and one of last year’s favorites -- Lady and the Tramp.

It is a great time to get ideas.

If you guys have a meet, include me....
Would love to have a mini meet in Epcot...
Monday is out though...
Anyone else going to Ice Cream Parlor in MK??
Supposed to meet there at 1...:)

Paul Revere and the Raiders!?!?! Wish I was gonna be there!

Thanks for all the replies!!! I'll have to post a report when we get back. My hubby is a classic Rock and Roll lover, so I think he might find something he enjoys.

On this trip, we're taking my parents along, so I think we'll have to pass on the DIS meets this trip. We're planning some major Grandma and Grandpa time! Sounds like a lot of fun, though.

I would love to meet up with other DISers on another trip, though!!! Yesterday I used a great AP code, so now I'll have to get an Annual Pass. So maybe I'll have to take another trip this year to really get my money's worth out of an AP!

I just saw a show on DIY network from the F&G festival...

Nat -- what's the DIY network??

Was it a good show??

Thanks!

Hi,

As a avid gardner I go just about every year. It's amazing how many toparies they have on display...the first year I spent the whole day just taking pictures and finding all the toparies they had! They also have outside vendors that they invite in to the event that are usually found around the rose walk. They sell garden art and knick knacks. You can find alot of great Disney stuff that is unique to the Flower and Garden festival too around World Showcase so be ready for some serious walking cause every country has a floral/topary display. They also have some great seminars like container gardening etc. and fun stuff for the kids too like this year they have a added a "Dog Gone Maze" were kids can wonder through their favorite canine Disney Pals. They also have the Behind the Seeds tour that you can go on for an additional fee and also have the Flower Power Concert Series as mentioned previously. Hubby and I saw Davey Jines last year....their were an aweful lot of middle aged women in the audience with drool hanging off their mouths!LOL! They also have a Mother's Day brunch the weekend you'll be there too! You can get more info by going to Disney's offical web page...www.disneyworld.com or www.intercot.com! So bring your camera, your walking shoes and plenty of time cause it's alot to see and do.

See ya there, cause' I'll be that weekend too...I am taking my Mom there for the weeknd and staying at The Wyndham Palace Resort and Spa.

PS
Here is some trivia for fun...this is stuff you'll pick up at the show!<BG>

*At WDW you will find over 60 character topairy figures are always in production behind the scences in a area known amusingly as the "chlorophyll Zoo".

*Nearly 10,000 creeping fig plants were required to prepare 14 topiary figures for the "Fantasy Topiary Garden," created especially for the 1994 Epcot Flower and Garden Festival.

Hi all,

Just thought I would let you know that the Epcot Flower and Garden festival is running again on DIY this morning (10:30am). It's from the 2001 year's show at Epcot and it's about a 30 min. show, so it looks to me like you should have a good oppertunity to catch the show as it should run on the station for awhile.

Have a great day!
