Just went through a huge, but apparently normal, Orlando thunderstorm. Our scooters from Walker Mobility are waterproof which is a huge plus but lightning was also present so we waited until light rain only and stayed a few more hours. Noticed we seemed to have the only waterproof scooters and saw many others having "water" problems...My advice go waterproof but stay inside when lightning is around.

It seems most of the newer models are now waterproof. My new electric wheelchair is completely waterproof from the seat to the joystick to the motors and batteries.

My old mobility scooter was not waterproof. I used to put a disposable shower cap over the electronics.
