I was just looking up Florida's weather on weather.com and I just happened to click on Floirda's State Flu Report...The flu is listed as "Widespread"...UGH!
Does anyone have any knowledge to confirm this? Even anecdotally?
 I hope not?!

 I hope not?!

We just stayed at WL and on the last day 1/4, heard the security people at bg check at the MK talking about the flu and one of the CM's said that "everyone is getting sick" and she hoped she did not catch "it". That said, I did not see a bunch of sick people or hear lots of coughing/etc. in the parks and our family stayed healthy despite the fact that we got rained on once a day! We do get flu shots and use lots of hand sanitizer. If you get your flu shots now, they'll be in effect by the time you leave!

We were there in Dec and we all caught the flu. None of us were sick more than one day.
We got the flu shot also and I use hand sanatize after every ride.

RUN get your shot now!!!!!!!!!!
I talked my 5 year old into WANTING the shot.
I said to him, you can take the little pinch now, or chance spending your whole vacation SICK and in BED!!!!!!

If you have a hard time finding the shot, ask about the nasal spray, that is much easier to come by.......although I have never done it.

Beware. Both my kids had the shot and had mild cases-- DD2 right after Thanksgiving and DD7 right now. So be vigilant about hand washing, etc.

My son had it and I got it too and I missed Christmas with a temp if 104 for 3 days. They are telling us the "stomach flu" is very wide spread now and I am waiting to get that one too - I am a pre-k teacher and my son is in Kindergarten in a different school so we tend to pass around all the illnesses. Brevard county has the flu - doctor's offices are packed.

{{{Healthy}}} vibes and pixie dust comin your way for a sick free vacation for your familypixiedust: pixiedust:

I live 5 minutes from MK. I heard a report on local news last night that the Nor-walk (spelling?) virus is widespread in Florida. This is the same virus that tends to hit cruise ships. Anyway, the good news is that in is not being seen as much now in Central Florida.

We had a really nasty stomach bug that made the rounds in November and December. That has pretty much moved on (based on the school where I work). Now, people are catching the 'flu', respiratory bug. This is the one with the high fever. We've had a bunch of folks end up with bronchitis.

I'm really glad I got my flu shot.

Just an added note-- get the flu shot as our cases would have been far worse without them.

Thanks for the feedback everyone...

annie1995, thanks so much for the pixie dust!!! It brought a smile to my heart!

I know noone wants to get sick on their vacation, especially to WDW!
All of us have had our flu shot except my DS...my DH and I were able to get it at a Kroger because we were over 18. My DDs got them at our pediatrician's office because they are considered "high risk"...and they ran out before DS could get it because he is not high risk. I have searched many places and it doesn't seem like they are available in our area anymore especially since he is under 18. I am going to try to call the county health dept. next. In the meantime, we are trying to stay healthy in every way.
Can't do much about the stomach "flu" except wash hands a lot and hope for the best!

Here's best wishes to everyone having a healthy trip to WDW and to stay healthy this winter!!!:wizard:
