Florida room only discount

Hello. My husband and I are staying at the GF for a week in early December - booked last year using a bounce back offer. My mother just asked me to find her a room for a couple of nights during that week as she and her husband want to join us for dinner and looking at some of the resort decorations. They are in their 80s and somewhat limited in mobility. They live in Florida. Mom does not have the time or ability to search out deals and I’m happy to help. Her husband has beginnings of dementia. I’m trying to figure this out quickly. It seems that I cannot access Florida resident discounts using my DW account, since I live in Virginia and my address reflects that. Is there a way I can figure this out without creating an account for her? They will not need park tix…only a room for a couple of nights. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

You may want to create an account because when you make the dining reservations it’s much easier to just select them from your friends and family list. Plus I assume you want the hotel reservation in their name so they have access to all the on property benefits.

Actually, you can just make an ADR for 4, you don’t have to list the other guests names. I do it when I can’t find an adr for 2 & have to make it for 4. The only reason to link with other guests is so they can see the plans in their MDE. Not sure you need MDE for just a hotel reservation either, you could call & book over the phone without one. They just wouldn’t be able to access the reservation online without it.

Will they let a person outside of Florida book a Florida Resident rate for someone else, or does the billing address for the cc have to be in Florida as well? Would the guest have to show the cc used when they show their Florida ID at check in? I’m sure they could book a regular rate with no trouble, but I don’t know how it works on the discounts where it’s restricted and you have to verify you are eligible. I am only familiar with booking resident rates as a resident myself. I don’t have to show my ID or cc because my MDE address and my cc billing address are both in Florida, so I am pre-qualified when making reservations online.

Usually I am just booking ADRs for me, but you are right on that. It doesn’t make you put in the names. How would that work if the parents drove to the resort for dining, but they weren’t listed on the reservation? Would knowing the reservation number and the name it’s under be enough to get them past the guard? I would think so, but we have never tried it.
