How does one get a quote for the cruise with a Florida resident discount? Only certain dates? Only those registered? Looks like our cruise (Magic January 10) isn't full, every category is available and I was wondering what it would cost to get another cabin for my Florida relatives. If I try the web, using my Castaway Cay number and sticking in their zip, I still get the same price as with my Colorado zip.

Florida Resident Rates are usually released two to three months prior to a particular sail date. I have always secured these rates by booking directly through DCL.

Right now Florida Resident rates for the 7-day go through December 13. If you book with a TA and then the rate comes out after, you can be credited the difference. Of course you are gambling that there will be Florida Resident Rates. As always, book something you are willing to pay and then be pleasantly surprised when the discount comes out. :)

Miss Jasmine makes a great point. DCL will also do this. We booked for May 1-8, 2004 and will keep checking on the rates up until that sailing.

I will book the cabin at the regular rate that I'm quoted directly with DCL and then keep calling back hoping that the Florida resident rate comes out for the cruise. The discount isn't always available, they will give them when they still have quite a few cabins left on a sailing to sell out the cruise. You can either call DCL directly or check on mousesavers.com or all seasons travel's website for the current FL resident rates.

We sailed Jan 19 this year on a 4 day and got the Florida Resident rate. Most of January and February were available at the rate. It was a great savings so it became a last minute Christmas gift. As I recall, the rates became avaiable in November. On our cruise coming up this Nov, we booked at regular rates through DU, and they immediately notified us when Florida Resident rates were made available for those dates. We had several rooms affected in different categories. My daughters originally had Cat 11, which were not included in the Fla rates. DU checked on Cat 10, which were included. So they got upgraded to Cat 10 and still saved several 100 $ over the original Cat 11 res. DU was very aggresive in getting the best possible deal for us. I was impressed! By the way, they did tell us that the Fla rates apply as long as at least 1 person in the room qualifies. Doesn't have to be everyone.
