My good friend lives in Florida and she offered to buy our tickets for Universal. Do I need to show my (CA) I.D. at the gate if I already have my tickets in hand? I know I'm not a resident...No flames please :rolleyes1

You don't want flames, but want to know if you can use something you know you aren't entitled to?? Interesting line of thought!

Yes, Universal will ask for a florida resident ID at the gates to avoid this situation.

If you'll check over on the Universal Orlando board, there's a link to 2 day/2 park tickets for $67. Universal also has a special right now for $85 for either 5 or 7 days (can't remember which right now). Those are very good prices, and you won't have to worry about being embarrassed at the gate (and out the money ;) ).

We're FL residents & always buy our tickets online. I'm not aware of any UO tickets that are cheaper for FL residents than what anyone can get online. I could be wrong though. What type of tickets were you planning to get?

Thanks for your help. I appreciate your kindness...It's nice to know that there are still helpful people around!

I just know how these boards are...my sister-in-law lurks on the boards all the time. She will not post because of the flamers out there. I told her I would post this question for her. How sad that she can't fully utilize the boards. There are a lot of people out there who are willing to give an honest, non-judgemental answer. I prefer to hear from them.

exactly what tickets are you looking for? Universal isn't like WDW with special resident passes. you can buy a five day pass for $85.00, and that's everyone. we get a few good breaks here and there, but Universal is pretty fairly priced.

If the tickets say they are for FLORIDA residents, then the only question is "are you a Florida resident?"

Now, I agree that the DIS has a high number of judgemental folks, but in this case you were kind of opening a can of worms......

This is going to sound harsh, but you want an "honest" answer to a question of "can I beat the system"? Once again, it's an interesting line of thought.

I think what you wanted was "oh yes, it's fine fo you to break the terms on the tickets" ANd then if you WERE caught what would you do? Tell Universal "The DIS boards TOLD me it was OK" I am sure that line works all the time! :rotfl:

What my sister-in-law wanted was a simple answer to the I.D. question. She purchased her tickets last night from a link that was posted on one of the helpful emails. I can understand your line of thinking, because I did open up a can of worms unintentionally. But since you don't know me you, you really don't know what my line of thinking was. I am not even going to Universal on my Orlando trip so "beating the system" doesn't apply. Nice try!

If they are truly "Florida Resident Only" tickets, you will be asked to provide proof of residence. If you can't provide an acceptable proof (usually drivers liscense or other major ID) you will have to buy new tickets at the gate.

You originally said she offered to buy tickets for you, nothing about her. Of course someone was going to say something. Whether its for you, her, Billy Bob, anyone .. Universal will ask for the proper ID at the gates for florida resident tickets.

PS. Join her for a day at Universal, it's a great park.

I'm with you. There are far too many people around here campaigning for sainthood. On the other hand, your quote above is interesting, considering your question. ;)
