What I have to say is a general announcement, and is not directed towards any specific post or person(s). I just want to make sure that folks understand ticket policies, so that they don't have any issues, and can have a stress-free magical good time.
(And although I am a cast member, what I say below is me as an off the clock Guest who frequents this board and loves Disney)
NEVER EVER buy Disney tickets from anyone who is not an AUTHORIZED Disney reseller. (And yes, there are ways to buy legitimate tickets at some savings!)
As a cast member, I've seen far too many family vacations ruined by folks trying to save a buck or two (and honestly, I can't blame then for wanting to save money, Disney IS expensive!).
The problem lies within these things:
1 - People are dishonest. Not everyone. But enough. There is NO WAY for you to tell if a ticket is valid, short of going up to a turnstile, inserting the ticket, and hoping the light turns green. Far too often, it turns red.
Those tickets you see on eBay and on 192... for all anyone knows, they could be completly used up, they might have expired, they could be stolen, or they might not even be activated. The tickets that you get at The
Disney Store for example... they don't get activated until they get purchased at the register. If someone just goes in, and take the tickets off the rack, they look fine, but they're not activated.
2 - Disney tickets are non-transferrable. Although enforcement of this has been rather lax up until recent years, all Disney tickets have always had the fine print on the back, "non-transferrable." Current Magic Your Way tickets require signatures on the back, and biometric finger scans to identify the user. If the finger scan doesn't match, they will ask for ID.
3 - When purchasing any Florida Resident ticket, you must give valid proof of FL residency, along with demographic information. (ie: name and address) This then becomes encoded onto the card (Well, the info gets stored in a database, and linked to the entitlement number). Disney park greeters can and might ask for ID upon park entry. If the names do not match, they will not let you in.
4 - A lot of Florida Resident "Tickets" are actually vouchers that can be exchanged for tickets at any ticket window. Proof of FL residency and matching names are required at this point.
Now...... going back to the original situation... with the above being said... if the seller did not disclose that they were FL Resident tickets, I would try and get out of the sale. That's a HUGE thing. That's like selling a TV in the US and saying it works... but then when you go to pick it up, you find out it only works in Europe.
I understand that you wish to save money on tickets... with the recent increase, they are expensive. But... the way I look at it is this... what is peace of mind worth to you? It's better to pay a little bit more, than to have to pay double. There is NO guarantee that those tickets will work. And the thought of you and your child getting up to the gates, and having a problem really kills me.
Hi- We are going to Disney in November and I have a problem that maybe someone will be able to help with. I am in Mississippi and have no Florida ID.
I bought tickets on Ebay, or should I say won them- I haven't paid yet- that someone bought at the disney store and after I won them he tells me they are Florida resident tickets.
1 is adult- 1 is child-
Keep in mind I did not set out to beat any system just wanted tickets a little cheaper now that the prices have gone up. I didn't know about the resident part til afterwards. The guy answered a question I had sent him after the listing ended.
My 2 part question is this-
1. Can you buy Florida residents tickets at the Disney Store or am I being conned?
2. If these are legitimate- Can I use them at the gate or do they need Florida resident proof? I was under the impression that you showed ID to buy them- Not use them.
I have read that I can get a Florida ID but won't be arriving til a Saturday and plan on going on Sunday. DMV is closed. Any help would be appreciated.
