Florida resident questions???

We just moved to FL in November and we're interested in getting the annual passes. We had already planned a grand gathering in May, so we'll probably wait until after that. Two questions: 1) Do the annual passes run for 365 days or are they Jan-Dec?; 2) I've read that you can apply your current vacation to the annual pass price, so if we get our passes in May while we're at WDW, will that go toward the purchase price? Here's the kicker, MIL and FIL are paying for this trip, so how can that apply to our passes??? Make sense?

The annual pass will run 365 days from the day you either purchase it or trade in your exchange certificate. I'm not sure about you MIL & FIL paying though, I would think that the actual resident would have to do the actual purchase.

The passes run for one year from issue date. If you buy one March 1, it is valid through March 1 of the following year.

You can upgrade to an AP during the validity period of a MYW ticket. However, the AP will be valid for one year from the first date the MYW ticket was used. So if you don't want your AP to start in May, I would wait to purchase one later, especially if you are planning on the seasonal AP instead of the regular AP. It won't matter who paid for the original ticket. You will have to show a Florida ID to upgrade to a Florida Resident AP.

Question 1: The passes run 365 from the day they are activated, not when purchased or Jan - Dec. So if you purchase one Jan 1, 2008 and don't use it until March 1, 2008 your AP will be good until March 1, 2009.

Question 2: I don't believe it matters who paid for the MYW tickets. You would have to show proof of FL residency and pay the difference from the MYW ticket to the AP. And I believe that the AP would then have the anniversary date of when the MYW tickets were first used, not the date that you upgrade to an AP. Since you live in Jax you might want to look into the Seasonal AP since you aren't that far from WDW but far enough, kwim. It gives you most of the same perks as an AP (resort discounts, shopping/dining discounts, etc.) and is a lot less expensive. There are blackout dates so if you doubt that you'd go to WDW during the blackout dates the Seasonal AP is a great deal. We've had the Seasonal AP for about 9 years now and love it.

You answered all my questions! Thank you! Yes, we're looking at the seasonal pass b/c we don't want to go during peak times anyway. And since we're going in May, we'll probably just upgrade then, now that I know it is good for a full year.
