I'm moving to Orlando in May and I'm sure I'll want to go to WDW as soon as possible. Does anyone know how long it will take to get a Florida ID card/DL, I'd like to take advantage of the Florida resident discount. If their DMV is anything like it is here in California, it'll take 2 months to get a license.

I don't know how long it will take to get your actual license. I'm sure that you can get a temporary right away. I checked the Florida DMV and was pleasantly surprised. If you have a valid drivers license from certain states, you don't have to take a written or driving test. You just have to take the eye exam and a hearing test. I will be moving to Orlando in June.

If you have another picture id and anything that shows your name and a Florida address, I think you will be able to get a resident pass.

well hopefully it wont take too long, when I moved to Cal I had to take the written test again and almost failed. Maybe they can issue an ID card while I wait for the license if it has to be mailed. Does anyone know if they mail them out?

Back in 98 I moved to Florida, I went to the DMV took an eye test turned in my current license and received my Fl DL on the spot. Some areas require you to schedule an appointment and others don't.

Yep, that's all it takes, along with birth certificate, if I recall correctly. I got mine this past July....
Check here FL DMV there is a section for new arrivals :)

You don't have to have a FL drivers license. We got our FL resident PAPs before we had our drivers license. We just showed them a utility bill with our name and Orlando address on it and a picture ID (our Texas drivers license). We also had Orange Co. library cards for our teenage sons because they had no ID.

From the WDW website it says:
You must provide any one of the following: Florida driver's license, Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address), current utility statement with your name and Florida address along with a corresponding picture ID, Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID, a college ID for a Florida college, or a Florida-based military ID.

I had to schedule an appt. to get my drivers license so it took several weeks. By that time I had a utility bill I coud have used.
