Florida: Paradise Lost ITV 26th August 9pm *On Tonight*

thank you - I set my record button the last time it was advertised and thought I'd set it to the wrong channel lol.

I think I could just about manage a trial year to see whether it was the place for me :)

anything with Flirida in it is a hit with me :thumbsup2

and is the grass greener? I don't know but it sure is sharper.

Hubby always bangs on about having a few years over there ~ i dont think any of our kids are the right age, having so many its always a bad time for one of them, we had the opportunity years ago to spend some time overseas but didnt go as i was pregnant...wish we had now :)

Just put it on, this London b and b thing is pretty appalling to me :lmao:

:goodvibes

Can't believe I missed this :( was it good??

Hopefully I'll be able to catch it on itv Player or something...

We watched it, i thought it was quite intresting, most people seemed happy except that couple that moved for the home cinema buisness.....they didnt seem all that clued up to me, they didnt do there homework and look at figures etc and were only unhappy because of the buisness etc, also the wife didnt seem very committed, i mean who goes home by themselvesthe week before christmas....:confused3...they seemed to have no money yet money for flights and deposit on that house....wierd!

The whole e2 visa is a wierd one, but they know what there getting into before they go, i think for couples its fine, but families, its just too rigid in its rules.

Exectly what I thought! The family with the home cinema business obv didn't do any research or they would have known that it wasn't making money. When she went home surely having to pay for two houses made their problems worse? :confused3
I fell in love with the 4 million pound house!

I was wondering if the Mum and kids might have been entitled to housing benefit etc if she was "home alone" :confused3
I really must try and "Google" the B&B tho :rotfl:

possibly benefit but was let by agent (sign ouytside) so still would have needed deposit and rent in advance they still would have had to pay that plus 5 flights one way and one for him back which we all know arent cheap!

On second thoughts they'd, quite possibly, not be entitled to benefit anyway as they'd lived outside the UK for over 6 months....I know my eldest wasn't entitled to anything when she came home from travelling around S America :sad2:

Watched this last night, very interesting viewing! I thought the couple with the 3 young children who bought the home cinema business seemed quite naive and, dare I say, a bit greedy :headache: Nothing wrong with wanting to succeed in life of course but if you're taking on a new business it's usually going to take a bit of time to become successful so perhaps buying an expensive house/committing to the mortgage that goes with it immediately isn't the best idea :confused3 Seemed like they were accustomed to a middle class lifestyle in the UK and thought they'd have the same or better straight away in Florida.
The London B&B/afternoon tea place was fab I thought, kudos to that couple for making the concept work! I'd love to run a business like that :goodvibes
So glad that the ice-cream guy's wife and daughter got their E2 visas approved in the end :thumbsup2

I felt really sorry for the nurse who had to carry on working while she was having her chemo and radiotherapy.US. Most people think it would be great to live in the US, but if something happens to you, there's no safety net! :scared1: DD is talking about moving back when she's a bit older, so I don't know what we'll do.

I didn't know that people's children had to get their own business once they turned 21 to stay in the country that really suprised me!!
