Florida Marriage License

Good morning! My fiance' and I are getting married at Disneyworld in February 2014. I'm a little confused about obtaining the marriage license. We would like to obtain it in advance if at all possible, and not have to spend one of our vacation days going to/from the courthouse and standing in line. Can we obtain the license by mail directly from the courthouse? Or do we have to utilize the services of a 3rd party to do the legwork for us? Thank you, in advance, for shining some light on this important piece of the puzzle, that I don't want to screw up!

You can absolutely do it by mail! There's a podcast that Carrie did all about obtaining a license via mail! That's what we are doing for our January DCL wedding cruise! We are going through Brevard County and all you have to pay for is the License which is about $93.50. Don't go through a company any pay over $200 for something you can do yourself. Thank you Jodi. The courthouse website implies that both parties have to be there in person to apply for the license, so that was confusing me! I apprecitae the information you provided and will check it out.

The in-person thing is if you're picking your license up at the courthouse. For mail-away licenses, getting them notarized together takes the place of being there in person.

Other things that non-Florida residents don't have to worry about are the 3-day waiting period and the form that asks about children.
