Morning - :sunny:

We are considering moving to Florida and have been asking lots of people lots of questions :goodvibes

Need your help - How much do Florida License Plates for you car cost on an annual basis? We have been told that it is a percentage of the value of the car. Is that true?

Thanks!!
Have a Magical Disney Day! pixiedust:

Something else about plates in Florida (which I thought was completely weird...)

Here, in Illinois, whatever month you buy them, you get a sticker for renewal for a year from that month (i.e. you buy in April of 2006, you have to get a new one in April of 2007)

In Florida - doesnt matter when you buy it - it expires the month of your birthday. I bought one in April, and had to renew in August ?!?!??! What the ....???

Yep--b-day expirations...if it is close--like register in March but b-day is in April or may--then you can register for over a year so that you don't have to come right back.

You can also reregister by mail which is nice....

We pay about $40-$50 per year for each of our vehicles and we haev a 300M and a minivan (though we just got that, so I don't know what it will cost for renewal--price based on our last van).

It is also prorated. If you buy a car before your birthday, you will not pay for an entire yr plus the $100 fee. We changed to FL tags in May and paid for a 6 month tags along with the $100 reg. for each vehicle. In Dec. we paid for 1 yr tags and didnt have to pay the $100 fee again.
