Florida Keys

I know this isn't a question about an Orlando hotel, but does anyone know of a good (reasonably priced) place to stay in the Florida Keys for a honeymoon. We are getting married in October and are very interested in going there.

Well, one place I would not recommend - unless you can get is seriously cheap - is the Cheeca Lodge on Islamorada. We stayed there as part of a package a few years ago and unless you pay top whack for an ocean front room, you get a bog standard, dark and dingy with no view back of the hotel room . . . and get treated accordingly!!

Shame really because the hotel, its grounds and the main staff were really nice.

I wish we had gone for our first choices, which were either Hawks Key or one of the smaller guest house type places.

I'm off to check a couple of names that we looked at at the time but were booked and have consistently had good reviews.

This is the only one I can find, but would definitely recommend the Islamorada area, we had great fun exploring this area.

It's not too far to travel from the start of the Keys - Key Largo - but it's a scenic route.

You are near the John Penenkamp Park which is a sea life centre, and you can swim with dolphins here. Visit Robbie's Marina where you get to feed the tarpon - huge great fish.

There are any number of nice restaurants, touristy shops and cocktails to die for

The snorkelling was fabulous - even my DH who doesn't particularly like the water joined us on a snorkelling trip and thoroughly enjoyed it.

best western ambassador inn.
decent rooms, pool, tiki bar, great free continental b-fast
not downtown, but across from ocean. great views.

price we had in Jan 2008 was approx $185.00/nite sun-mon-tues

We visited the Keys and stayed at the Best Western and loved it. It wasn't real far from anything and it was cheap and clean. The room was very large (we had two kids in our room and never felt cramped). Had a continental breakfast with good food (we love having fruit).
