Overpriced shampoo and conditioner-25.00+

A cool Disney had to just cover it all up and forget it-PRICELESS!!!!

I wear a hat at least 1/2 the days we are there. I have several from past trips so I get them packed up and ready before we leave. I also favor a clip or scrunchie. Who cares anyway?? You'll never see these people again!!

OH MY GOD....I have to reply on this.. just got back on friday and boy was my hair a messss :scared1: :scared1: My whole family was about ready to KILL me, because every day it was the same routine.... wash my hair blow dry it and style it and it would look great untill I would open the door to go out..YIKES,, I have the same problem, short, thick, curly, wavy, you name it. The worst is the Fantasmic show at MGM with all that mist, ITS A KILLER

Will the Biosilk work on my fine limp hair that does nothing in the humidity? I'm looking for something that will allow for a little "lift" as opposed to the "flop."

And can anyone tell me why my hair won't get clean in FL? I assume it has something to do with the water as I take my own shampoo down.
Any remedies?

Thanks, ladies!

Seriously everybody!! If you want to wear your hair naturally curly and want it to stay frizz free and pretty all day long, use BIOLAGE HYDRO FOAMING HAIR STYLER. I put it in my hair, diffuse it dry and then add a little more to smooth out whatever happened when I blowdryed it. It stays all day without having that "wet look" or feeling crispy, crunchy all day.

I also started using Thick Infusion Root Volumizing Spray when my hair is still wet on the roots. It lifts my hair right up so I have a lot of volume. It's awesome!!

I was at Disney in April (it was SOOO humid) and my hair stayed put all day long (even without a hat)

Ok... this might be a little long and winded but I am so glad I finally found this thread. My hair is not the easiest to handle even at home. I find that I do it and then once I am out the door, it looks like someone else's hair... but here is what I do.

Normally at home, I just get out of the shower in the morning and blow dry it until it looks like how I want it. BUT... when I have to go in Florida weather... this seems to work. My hair is chin length so I have to deal with flipping out ends, etc.

WASH YOUR HAIR THE NIGHT BEFORE! Maybe you do already, but I usually shower every morning so it is different for me. When it is still wet, I put in "Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Smoothing Serum" (I had to go get the bottle for that), it is only about $5 at Walmart. Then... 'air dry' (omg, did I actually say that) before you go to sleep... if you need a little help, use a blow dryer a little bit so you don't get your pillow/husband all wet. :rotfl: But then, just leave it, don't worry about style. Don't put it in an elastic or anything. Just leave it, yes... it might look a little crazy in the morning.

THEN, in the morning... pull out a blow dryer and round brush on extra-hot and style it really good. For some reason, once you do that, it stays that way... I'm serious... but try this at home first please. I don't want to be responsible if you have any crazy hair at Disney ;) :earsgirl:

Please try and let me know!

:) I'm with all you girls with the FLA Hair.

I can't believe how nasty my hair looks while I'm in FLA. I have curly, med length hair - I like it with volume. By the time I get to FLA and spend a few hours, my hair just goes flat and the ends are so frizzy. My curls are not defined at all.

I'm going to check out the products that were mentioned on this thread. Something has got to help!

Another great product for curly hair is Curls Rock from TIGI/Bed Head. It is a creamy product, more control than mousse but not as heavy as gel. That with the anti-frizz stuff make hair miracles!

Ok I have not read through this thread yet but I just had to laugh :rotfl2: I grew up in FL with naturally curly "FL Hair". I now live in NC so I don't have to deal with the humidity as much. When we go to FL I pretty much plan to wear my hair up the entire time. I don't bother bringing anything except shampoo & conditioner (and lots of hair bands). I straighten my hair normally but I wouldn't even attempt it down there. I can't wait to go back and read what others suggest but wanted to share my laughter for a moment. Believe me OP I feel your pain!!!!

I've tried the TIGI Bedhead and I hated the stuff. It seemed like it never dried. It made me hair extremely frizzy and sticky. But hey, if it works for someone else, great!

What a funny thread! I moved to Orlando 2 years ago and except, maybe on a really dry day in January, I have had FL HAIR ever since. I have naturally curly hair, but used to be able to control it, but after months of trying to fight it, I'm now justing going with it! I'm just growning it longer so I can pull it back, and I have a collection of baseball caps!!!

Good luck on your mission!

Oh I am so relieved to find I'm not the only one who feels this way. Months before the trip I try to get my hair back to getting used to curly hair because I know I can't go straight in Florida. This past year I forgot my suitcase at the airport (long story) and ended up in Florida without any luggage or hair products. So I resorted to a hat I bought in the WL gift shop. I will never do Florida without the baseball cap and a ponytail again. It allowed me time to just ENJOY THE TRIP and not worry about the hair.

I live in Louisiana so I know ALL about frizzy humid hair days. On a normal day I just straighten it and apply hairspray to the top to control frizz but on those horribly humid days (one which fell on my senior pictures day  ) I suggest anti frizz spray. It works wonders!!!

Just got back a little over a week ago. My friend & I referred to my hair as "Monica hair"...from the Friends episode where she went on vacation & her hair poofed & frizzed, etc..that was me. I looked at MK for a ponytail holder & one couldn't be found. So, I opted for the more expensive-$20 baseball hat. Was the best $20 I spent the whole vacation!

I too have naturally curly hair that frizzes badly in the Florida humidity. I have asked my stylist to get me a product to help me control my hair when I go back down there in December. I am going to try it out here for several weeks and see how it works. This time of year here in Arkansas, it tends to get pretty humid in the early morning and evening so maybe I can put it to the test and see if it works. I'll post the name of the product and my results later.

Ah yes, Fl hair. I have naturally wavy, very fine mid back hair. I don't straighten at home, just air dry and ponytail. At Disney I have a routine. Wash it in the morning, then put it into 2 french braids. I use some shiner on it, you could also use shiner with some hold in it. My hair stays up all day, I don't have to fuss with it. All the little hairs stay in the braids and don't fall over my face. Is this the most mature look? No, but it's Disney-who cares! Plus, once I take the braids out I have loads of wavy hair that I could go out with. This will only work for longer hair, but it's a no fuss solution.

I am so glad to have found this thread. We were at WDW a few weeks ago and as soon as we got off my plane I could just hear my hair frizzing.

Being from Florida (and not that far from WDW), here are the products that I use with great success:

I have a layered hair style that is a little longer than shoulder length. My hair is slightly wavy, but straightens out when I blow dry it.

Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Serum - the key is to use a small amount. I use about the size of a small pearl on damp hair (but it also works on dry hair). Too much and my hair is totally flat. Then, I dry, flat iron to smooth, and use a small drop (a little less than the Control Freak) of Biosilk Silk Therapy.

I used both of these products before I ran errands to get hurricane supplies for Wilma, and my hair NEVER got frizzy at all.

Hope that helps.

:sunny:

Have you seen all the cute Disney hats? :earsgirl: Conveniently available in any gift shop--I've bought many hats after exiting not-so-hair-frinedly rides.
Just throw on a hat in the morning and get going!

I also wash my hair the night before. My hair is fairly short, fine, but very thick with a little wave. I usually do get a cut before we leave so that I can just wash it, blow dry it for a minute or two and then let it air dry. I have found that Redken Hardwear works best for me. It is a clear gel that works really well to hold a style, but does not leave hair gloopy or sticky. A little goes a long way. This worked well for me on my last visits. I had some time to research this issue because it was very hot and humid for most of the summer here in PA!
