Florida Aquarium

Hi,

Has anybody visited the Florida Aquarium ? Has anybody done the DolphinQuest ? My daughters are swimming at Discovery Cove, so we'd like to show them dolphins in the wild.

We (DH, DS-13, DS-5, DD-18 mo. and myself) went to the Florida Aquarium in Tampa April of 2002. The aquarium is great and very kid friendly ! Here is a link to their website for more info. http://www.flaquarium.org/

We went in May 2003 and thought it was awful.
Not worth the entrance fee,personally youre better off going to seaworld LOL

I have to say I didn't enjoy it either! I could have been in and out in an hour.

We went last summer and thought it was really good-the Aquarium is really well laid-out, and all the exhibits were spotlessly clean.
We bought combo tickets and went on the Dolphin Quest-which was good, although we only saw dolphins at a distance; and also did the Behind The Scenes Tour-which we all enjoyed too.
We all agreed that we'd go again next time we visit the Tampa area.

Wow - very different opinions - just wondering if you are all talking about the Florida Aquarium in Tampa or the one in Clearwater which I've read is not so good?

We also went to the Clearwater Aquarium last summer, and it's nothing like the Florida Aquarium (Tampa)-it's much smaller scale, very few not so well-maintained exhibits, but also a lot cheaper. The best thing at Clearwater was the Sealife Safari- a boat trip where a marine biologist is on board, and they "trawl" for fish, etc. then show and talk about what's been caught. Our kids loved it. Also you get to see dolphins if you're lucky.
Of the two, I'd definitely recommend the Florida Aquarium; but Clearwater's Sealife Safari boat trip was better the Dolphin Quest at the Florida Aquarium.
