So I am sure this has been answered already. I just can’t seem to find the answer. We already received our magic bands in the mail for our annual passes. I assume we are still required to show our proof of Florida residency in order to activate our passes. Do I need to go to a window at the ticket center to show proof or is there another place.

Last time we did this the lady at the ticket center said we need to show the people at the gate entrance our proof. The park entrance employee said we need to show the ticket center our proof first. Went back to the same lady who apologized for the confusion and set everything up (daughters BBB appt was missed due to all of this so they were able to squeeze her in and the ticket center threw in a bunch of fast passes for our trouble)

It has not been addressed definitively.

1. Hmmm. I didn't think they sent AP MB's until after the APs where actually activated.
Do you also have a WDW resort stay scheduled for this trip?
2. Yes.
3. That is a SURE way to do it, but there are rumblings that guests can now do that right at the park gates on their way in.
4. Could be.
5. That IS the way they have done it for years, but that MIGHT be changing.
6. If you want to be on the "safe side," do the check-ins at a ticket booth or Guest Relations in advance.
If you want to "try out" a possible new situation at the gate... well, that's up to you.

You have to show proof of residency at Guest Relations located at the park gates or at Disney Springs. Once you get them activated at Guest Relations you do not have to show proof again. Magic Bands are not active until you visit Guest Relations.

When I go show proof of residency, could I upgrade one of the passes to gold?

Yes.
You can upgrade any AP to a higher level at any time during its life.
(But, there is no prorated price, regardless of how much of the year's life is already gone.)

How did you get your AP MagicBands before activation? Are you staying at a Disney resort?

When we ordered our passes in july there was a section to enter our ids and it was verified online. We were able to go straight to the gates without having to go to guest services. If you did not enter your id and have it verified when you purchased then you need to stop by gust services. Our passes became active the first day we tapped them going in. I have not got my card since I did not go to GS but I was able to use MDE and my ID to get the pass holder discounts for dining and shopping. We got our magic bands before arriving and before using our pass because we had a hotel reservation.

No. We paid online for the annual passes and we had out bands 5 days later. Helps I guess that we live about 90 minutes from the park.

That would not figure into this.
There are many long-standing rules that have recently been "adjusted."
(And, only for some guests, it seems.)
We don't know if the new procedures are permanent changes or if they are simply being tested.
It will take awhile to see how things continue for other guests over a longer period.

I’ve read all of the posted requirements for Florida residency on the Disney site. Does anyone know if Disney considers a credit card statement a bank statement? Or does it truly need to be for a checking/savings account?

It needs to be a statement from a financial institution. In my personal experience that rule is quite flexible. You should be fine.

Are you a Florida resident? Why can’t you just use a utility bill or present your ID.

My cousin tried to use a credit card statement a few years ago and was told to produce something else like a utility bill or an actual Florida ID. Many people try to skirt the rules by changing their credit card/bank statement address to a friends/family home in Florida. You do it online, change address to a Florida address, print it then change it back. My cousin tried that for my parents address and was told no.

Found this. If you have an actual piece of mail from the financial institution you should be good. Not sure about credit card statements though

Bills, Policies or Registration
  • Current homeowner's insurance policy or bill
  • Current automobile registration, insurance policy or bill
  • Current Utility bill (power / phone / cable / water)
  • Bills can be no more than 2 months old (P.O. Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency)
Mail
  • Mail from financial institutions, including checking, savings or investment account statements
  • Mail from federal, state, county or city government agencies
  • Mail can be no more than 2 months old (P.O. Boxes are not accepted as proof of residency)

I have a Florida residence as well as a New York residence, and need to keep my NYS license for work reasons.

But I do have one of my credit cards with the Florida residence address, but not the checking account. Utilities are not in my name, but have the same last name on the account, but that doesn’t really help. Would love to not change the checking account address but will if I have to. 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you have a Florida residence then you should have no issues getting a Florida ID. You can try showing them the credit card with Florida address but you may need to bring in a physical piece of paper showing that Florida address. I guess it all depends on who you are dealing with the day you arrive at the park.

We bought our Florida resident APs in August for our November trip and also received our MagicBands a couple weeks later. We did have resort reservations and received those MBs within days of receiving the AP ones. (they also included the AP sliders in the box)

We went to Disney Springs and walked towards the Guest Relations building from the lime garage, then turned left and went down to the Ticket Center location to activate our APs. I showed the nice lady the email with the bar code and we both had to show our Florida IDs. She activated our APs, wrote our name on the back of the card, and we were good to go. Took all of 10 minutes.

we’re part time residents. the utilities are in my in laws’ names and we keep our MA ID’s so we’re using our bank statement with our FL address as proof of residency because the disney website specifies that that is acceptable. i’d be confused if a CM told us no?

When we moved to Florida in 2011, it was a nightmare getting a Florida Drivers license. We had to go register to vote AND show two other forms of local ID. I think one was a mortgage and the other was a utility bill along with the voter registration card. This was in Sarasota.

For my annual pass, we just used our drivers license.
