Hi guys,
New joiner here and as I am always looking forward to my nextDisney trip, I have the following question.

Does anyone have a 'rule of thumb' opinion on when to book for a 'Summer 2009 holiday to Florida staying anywhere that is cheap?

Any info would be appreciated and we live on the South Coast, Dorset.

Please renew my love affair with Pooh Bear but don't tell hubbie !!!!

Welcome to the DIS Jem :)

When to book really depends on whether you are booking a package, or are booking a flydrive and accommodation separately.

Packages and flydrives can be booked as soon as the 2009 brochures are out and some tour operators other early booking discounts.
If you plan to book a scheduled flight then you can only book 11 months in advance. Scheduled flights do get booked up during the busiest school holiday times so best to book early to get the flights you want - there will always be accommodation available. You can always book a flydrive and look for cheaper car hire. You don't have to use the car offered with the flydrive :)

Booking accommodation direct is often the cheapest option - especially with the ££ being so strong. You can get even better exchange rates if using a Nationwide credit card to pay as there is no foriegn transaction fees.

Try searching on Expedia or similar hotel site for Orlando hotels on I-Drive or the 192 in Kissimmee.

If its onsite hotels then direct with Disney.com is competative (also compare with Disney.co.uk) but if its Offsite then direct with hotels in my experience is never the cheapest way, and Expedia is usually very expensive.
We tend to find good prices around 6 months before travelling, I have just this last week booked our hotels for this August. Use Hotelopia for both hotels, Country Inn and Suites at £21/night and POR at £71incl both prices beat Direct (Country Inns were about 3 times the price direct)
managed to get these prices as there is a 15% code for hotelopia knocking about and also got 10% cashback thru rpoints.com
Last 2 Augusts stayed at Courtyard by Marriott LBV for about £25/night both times around £75/night if I had gone direct to Marriott.
When you are ready to book find out where you want to stay or the area and type of property, post what you are looking for and prices you have been quoted then others, including myself will have a look and see whats available and tell you if there are any good offers about.
