Floorplan descriptions for various DVC?

Hello,

I am almost a new DVC owner (recently passed ROFR). I have a question. Plan to go to WDW during Thanksgiving holidays. Can anyone tell me if there is a place where I can see floorplans for the various resorts? I'm most interested in finding

1) A place where I can comfortably sleep my tribe. 2 boys, each in separate beds, not in the living room where I'll wake them when I go into make coffee in the morning. And preferrably a King, but at least a queen for mom/dad.

2) 2 bathrooms, prefer a jacuzzi tub

3) Largest square footage available.

4) Laid back feel, not a beehive of activity

5) Yet still with stuff for the kids on days when we don't go to the park.

I don't care so much which is closer, they're all convenient enough, since we aren't the type to worry about squeezing every second of park time out of our trip.

So which resort sounds like the best for me?

It sounds like OKW is for you, but based on what you are looking for you would be the one to end up sleeping in the living room if you got a 2BR. At OKW in a 2BR you would have three beds and a pull out sofa. Grand Villas are hard to get but it sounds like that would be what you would really need based on your wants.

OKW does meet all of your criteria.

When you said mom/dad, did you mean yourself & spouse? Total of 4 of you? OKW would have 1 king in the master and 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom. A dedicated 2 bedroom at VWL or SSR would be the same. A dedicated 2 bedroom w/2 queens in the second bedroom would be available at BCV. The 2 bedroom at BWV would be 1 king plus 1 queen & 1 double sofabed in the second bedroom, some BCV are also like that plus lockoffs at VWL or SSR.

OKW 2BR villas are 1410 square feet- with King bed in the master bedroom, jacuzzi tub, washer/dryer, full kitchen, large living room and large balcony patio. The second bedroom will have two queen beds and it's own bathroom.

All DVC resorts will have the same general layout and amenities- athough some have one queen and sleep sofa in the second bedroom. The other onsite DVC resorts will also be very comfortable and will be just under 1100 square feet. Lock-off 2BR villas will have a smal fridge and microwave in the second bedroom. These will also have an exterior entrance for the 2nd BR.

Good pick up Debbie. I thought it meant the OP's Mom and Dad, making a total of 6. With only 4, an OKW 2BR would be perfect.

So OKW is approx 300 sq. ft. larger than most? Sounds like that may be the way to go, but what's the tradeoff? If it was as simple as that, everybody would pick OKW. After all, on a 1400 sq. ft. unit, that's more than 20% additional space. And without a goofy arrangement with an extra exterior door or a half kitchen in the kid's room. So what's the catch? Are the amenities as good? Jacuzzi in the master? nice rec room stuff for the kids?

The tradeoff is location and a condo feel.

Its laid back and on a golf course, but with BCV/BWV you can walk to MGM and Epcot and have a "hotel" experience. Some people prefer the "condo" feel, others like interior halls and being able to call for room service. With VWL you get the hotel feel and are a boat ride from the MK. You have easy access to DTD, and Olivas on property, but if you were at the BW there would be a few more restaurants attached to the hotel.

OKW though is really an anomoly. First built, Disney didn't realize how much more (points) they could get for less (square footage). Its a real value.

If your children are young, I would get a dedicated unit. It's better that they don't have an outside entrance from their room. OKW does have 2 bedroom lockoffs also, so be sure to specify which you want to reserve.

The 2nd BR is no further than the living room. At OKW, the connecting door to the bedroom is at the end of the hallway- before you get into the living room and kitchen. That's about 12 feet from the master bedroom.

Depends on your needs. The lockoffs in resorts other than OKW have one queen sized bed and a sofabed in the 2nd bedroom. For folks who wouldn't have a need for that second bed, it can be nice to have a sofa and the extra floor space that would normally be taken up by an unused queen sized bed.

Some parties may even appreciate the separate exterior entries and the kitchenette. I'm thinking that if you've got two adult couples sharing a 2B, they may appreciate some of the studio amenities, while still having access to the shared living space.

As for your original question, I agree with most of the others--OKW is the way to go.

At OKW there is no difference in size between having a 2-B/R lockoff unit or a 2-B/R dedicated unit. They have the exact same floor plan. The living room, kitchen, master bedroom, and laundry room are exactly the same.

In a dedicated 2-B/R, the 2nd bedroom has another closet instead of the sink/refrigerator/cabinet area, and it has a wardrobe dresser against the wall that would otherwise have the outside entrance door.

If the kids are young you probably don't want them to have an outside entrance door, and the extra closet space may be an advantage.

Nice to see you here on the DVC boards. What resort did you buy into? I would suggest that you book a room in your home resort as soon as you can, assuming that it is more than 7 months from your trip. Then, at the 7 month mark, you can change your reservation to your first choice.

I bought 50 points at VB.

Why book soon, then change to WDW, rather than just wait and book at wdw? Does Thanksgiving week at OKW and other Orlando properties fill up early? Or is 7 months out adequate?
