Yes you do. It might be possible that your landlord has flood insurance on the property but your possessions would have to be covered by your own flood policy.

Red Cross will be of some help to many of you (not sure about renters on that help). We were able to get vouchers to get new mattresses,basic appliances, clothing and other basic human needs.
Please do not be too proud to take what help is offered. Don't put all your hope with FEMA because it is a VERY SLOW PROCESS. We had wonderful help from a group of men from Utah who came in and ripped our sheetrock out in only a matter of hours where it would have taken us days. They were very organized and fast and these men were wonderful. They just tell you they are doing God's work but they never preach to you. They are just there to help.

Yes, it's a separate policy. The entire apartment complex behind my subdivision was devastated and not one person there had that policy. It's truly sad.
