Hi, could anyone advise which built-in floating swim gear they think works best? I have one that seems to tip the kids forward onto their abdomen. I am looking for my 2 year old in particular, he's crazy and his utter lack of fear scares the begeezus out of me! :scared1: Any advice would be appreciated!

we have one for DD that is from Lands End it is like a vest and zips up the back. It works really well!

DD has a "Pool Pal" brand swimsuit. It has a series of floaties around her midsection. I would like to buy another this year, she's going to outgrow it really soon!

I had a one piece swimsuit with the removable inserts all around dds waist/back/sides. It was WONDERFUL and it was a highly recommended suit. She loved it and all we had to do was remove a couple of pieces according to her swim level...it worked like a dream!!!

I would highly recommend them and wish I could remember who made the one she had.

I would recommend an actual vest over a suit with inserts any day! The suits seem to tip my kids over, where as a vest they learned to work with it! (or just good old fashioned arm floaties!

Not sure of the brand of the one I bought the kids last year but it was great!! I bought the Disney themed swimsuit vests (put on over the suit) and it was great!!! Since DS is ALMOST ready to swim without the vest that is all he used since he knows how to balance himself in water and can manouver easily in it. We used arm floaties with it for DD since she doesn't know how to balance herself in water completely yet. I am hoping next summer it will be vest only.

Try to let your child put the suit on before you buy it. Some kids love them and others hate them. DGS is a "hate em" kid. We use one of the arm floatie things that goes around the waist as well and that seems to work just as good as the suit for us.
DGS however is not one of those kids that would just run and jump in water if I took my eye off for one second. I have a friend that has that kid, and he always wore the suit till he could swim well. He could take off the float but not the suit. If that is the case with you, I would not give him the choice.

The one we had was pretty nice one from Dick's I think.
