We are staying at Pop and POFQ. What are the rules about floats? We are only 2 parents, and 3 of our kids cannot swim. Am I allowed to bring our own small inner tube to the resort pools? DD5 does terrible with swim wings, kicking board, noodle, and float-suit but does great with a small inner tube.

Anyone know? Does the small inner tube have to be clear'? I couldn't find any clear ones that were small enough for her.

you may want to check with your resort.
I thought it was NO floats actually. I'm sure someone else here will know for sure though.
I have seen those pool balls, but floats, swim aids, not seen at POR.

You will probably not be allowed to use the inner tube. The only pool that will generally allow them is at SAB, and even then they have to be clear and the pool can't be overly crowded.

Noodles seem to be generally allowed, but they don't block the view of what's under them and don't take up room.

They do offer the use of life jackets for no fee for all guests, which might be a great option for you.

When we stayed at PopC there were lots of noodles and float balls already in the Bowling pin pool.

I'm sorry I don't know about your specific resorts, but wanted to let you know that we've never had any problem using tubes (the pink, blue, & green ones from Target) at the Dolphin (stayed there 2 weeks ago, although it's not in my signature), BCV, & CBR. We used them every day of each trip.

I would go ahead & pack the tubes.

The ones we get from Target are big (36 in.) but Kmart has 30 inch ones, so does our local Dollar Tree.

I don't think inner tubes are allowed except those clear ones at SAB. They're very dangerous for kids (as I'm sure you know) and while you can watch your child every single second she's in it a life guard can't.

If I am right, I think the "tube" you are referring to is more a floatation device than say an inner tube (i.e. usually opens at the back, goes under the child's arms, and usually has some kind of character head at the front?). If so, those are definitely allowed. My DS used the same things from about 2-4 yo., and we never had a problem.

Yes...just for my smallest child (30 lbs). We stay right there holding onto the ring, but then she isn't squeezing the life out of us so we can also keep a hand near another of our children as well. Our problem is that most shallow ends of pools are still too deep for our kids to stand, and they cannot swim. My littlest one can't hold a noodle without slipping off.

Do the life vests keep the kids somewhat upright as well? Many things we've tried, the kids would still float, but tended to roll face down which is not safe for them at all, lol.

We packed the swimsuits that have airfilled things to stick in zippered pockets all around, but only my 9yo was ok with it last year -- and she is good with noodles this year, too. The younger 2 hated those suits last year.

I wish they would learn to swim already! (DH never was really able to, either. )

I was planning on bring one for me... for comfort/leaning on. I know about the noodles but the tube is more comfy to me. Hmmmm. Now I wonder if it's allowed?

Anybody know for sure?

I searched all kinds of threads for almost 2 HOURS yesterday. I found that no 2 people got the same answer. I have officially called Pop twice now, and gotten 2 different answers then, too. One said anything but rafts. THe other said only swim aids, not the kind for just relaxing (seemed to think that the very small swimring I was asking about is fine, but not an older child or adult just lounging in a big ring.

So who knows. Guess we'll bring one if we can find one (used a borrowed one at a friend's house yesterday).
