My son really wants Floam for Xmas... the only place that carries it around here is the craft store ACMoore, so I went to 3 of them to find it (seems they can't even keep it in stock, it is in such high demand). When I was looking at it at the 3rd store today, a mom stopped and said that she bought it off TV for her kids... she said that it does not come out (at all so she says) from clothing/carpets.. that she learned this the hard way and tried everything to get it out. I stood there second guessing the purchase, but decided to buy 2 tubs of it anyway (in the yellow and white that they had left) and will let DS play with it in the kitchen with old clothes on.
So anyway, just wanted to share that warning for those who got their kids Floam for the holidays!!

i've kept away from the stuff cuz i was concerned about it staining as well. i also have a sinking feeling that everything sticks to it (hair, crumbs, dirt from your hands)-just envision it being a gross mess.

My kids wanted it too. A friend brought some over a few weeks ago. Although it's neat to feel, it did look quite nasty quickly. It just picked up everything, hair, lint, etc.
Walmart does carry it FYI.

I was Floam ignorant until yesterday. I finally saw some at Wal Mart and I'm still not sure what it is!

DD (7) would love some Floam :thumbsup2

It's not available in the stores, in the UK, yet.
Will I be able to find it in Walmart?

Thanks
:)

We had some too and it was a nasty mess within an hour, and my nephew got a hair cut out of the deal :(

It does stick to everything....just like those sticky slappy hands, they just end up being a big lint and dirt trap.

All of that kind of stuff is nasty!

That being said :) ......we picked some up today at A.C. Moore with the instructions they can ONLY use it outside! DD7 wants to decorate something dfor outside with it. I figured that once they try it the novelty will wear off.

My kids really want this stuff too. My concern is what happens when they "decorate" something with it. Will the item always be decorated with this nasty stuff that attracks everything else to stick to it? On TV they make it look like it can be used over and over again??

I've seen it at both Wal-Mart and Target. It is fun but it's a mess. After they were done playing there were tiny white balls everywhere. I threw it away after that. I would be scared to decorate with it...

DH let the kids get it at AC Moore when I sent him there for replacement electric candle bulbs at Christmas. I would never have bought it. It was horrible. One of the kids got it on her bedspread and NOTHING gets it out. Luckily its on the side of the bed facing the closet. DO NOT BUY FLOAM!!!!

It does stain and picks up lint etc.I dont allow Floam or Gak any more.Too messy! My DS likes the Crayola Magic better. It is like clay that can be shaped , molded and it is clean. It dries into a substance similar to colored styrofaom. We got it in several colors.

yrs ago we bought the Nickelodeon Floam sets that had plastic bases that you covered with the floam and let it dry. Now those were cool. I don't think I'd like it so much if we were reusing it. I can see how it would have the tendency to pick up or stick to everythig it touches
