As we are getting ready to start packing the suitcases, I am wondering about footwear. I hate sneakers. We are going in December, so I know I may have to invest in a pair and try to break them in soon....But does anyone wear flipflops for an all-dayer? Are you sorry you did? Do you bring a pair of sneakers in case? :guilty:

I normally just wear flip flops the whole time, but in Dec.you might want sneakers. I've got a lot in Dec. but the last time I went in Dec. it was freezing!

Per the advice of other members, I purchased 2 pair of Teva Mush flips and wore them the entire time last week! No problems at all, I loved them. And I normally cannot wear flip flops all day without having some kind of leg/ankle problems. I did bring sneakers just in case, but never used them.

I second shoes need to be packed for December... I can easily remember where crock flip flops in the days and hats and gloves the same evening during the first week of December 2 years ago..

When we've been in May I lived in flip flops, but when we go in a couple of weeks I'm taking trainers incase! Especially for the evenings as I'm the kind of person who feels the cold....but I'm hoping for a little warmth :)

Personally I wouldn't wear flips flops as you will do a LOT of walking and they do not offer enough support for your feet. I would recommend comfortable sneakers - or my personal favourite these days - Crocs! They might not be to your taste but they really do keep you comfy. My hubby even has a pair for WDW though he wouldn't be seen dead in them in "real life"!! :rotfl:

Whatever you decide, always have a back-up plan! Bring most broken-in sneakers (even if they're not "pretty!") as a back-up.

I brought some sneakers in 2004 that I used during my lunchtime workouts, so I thought they were broken in. Wrong! They were uncomfortable and I got a blister, even with moleskin. Was so glad I had brought a pair that was much more comfortable.

I did try flip flops during my trip last year - they were my main shoes. They were quite comfortable, but I think they contributed to a very bad case of shin splints, because they had no real support in them.

I wore Teva Mush flip flops the entire week I was there in September. I always bring backups, but never use them. Although, I do think everyone should bring an extra pair.:thumbsup2

We're going 12/19 thru 12/23 and I'm hoping that it's not too cold. I love my Merrell flip flops which have lots of support. I've walked all over Disney several different times in them and they're the best. I always have problems with sneakers no matter what I use. I will bring some with me for any cold evenings but I'm hoping I can wear my Merrells most of the time.

I live in flip flops as much a possible. The only problem I had with them this past May was when it rained they tended to slip, and several times I almost twisted my ankle.

Of course if my family would sloooow down a bit I wouldn't have a problem. ;) Actually, I just have short legs and I am always trotting to keep up with them.:yay:

I have done it both ways and by far...flip flops were the most comfortable! I have a pair of sanuks and they are awesome. My tennis shoes hurt my feet so bad that I couldn't even put them on the next day.
If it is cool, crocs with socks would be my choice. :goodvibes

Another teva mush lover here. If the weather is nice you can't beat them, they have great arch support.... I'd check the 10 day forcast and make sure you have a warmer pair of shoes as well.

I've gone the last several years in Dec and/or Jan and have been able to wear my flip flops every trip, except Dec '04. We almost froze our tushes off that trip. I didn't know Florida could get that cold. brr!!! Other than that one trip though, I always wear flip flops down there. My absolute favorites are the Teva Mush, followed closely by Montrail Molokinis. Both have good arch support and keep my feet happy. I have several pairs of both and trade them out every day.

I LOVE my crocs flip flops. I have worn them for full days in the parks. Just be sure to break them in first. I remember them rubbing on my second toe when I first got them, but now they're fine.

Wow....I love my flip flops. I wear them from May to October. That being said, we just returned from a week at Disney and I can't imagine having worn flip flops to the parks all day.

I wore very broken in sneakers even though I hate my feet being covered and wearing socks. My husband and kids wore sneakers too. No one complained about sore feet or blisters.

It rained 2 out of the 7 days we were there. It wouldn't have been fun with kids in flip flops:)

Take your flip flops, but bring some sneakers too!

I learned about Teva Mush from this forum. They are awesome!! I could definitely wear them all day with no problem. Now, if it is cold, that is another issue. I would have to wear tennis shoes. Just my 2 cents.

I am packing both for my 01-07-09 through 01-15-09 WDW & DCL vacation. :cool1:

We were there in Oct. I wore my crocs athens flip flops & my feet were so happy. Not sure about the weather in December though.
