HI! We are going to WDW the first of June 2011. I know it's going to be hot....and we will ride the rides that you can get wet on (I don't know how many of those there are).....There Are 10 fam members.....62,60,45,42,40,36,9,6,5 and 2 yrs of age.......
Do we wear comfy flip flops or wear tennis shoes??
THANK YOU!:beach:

ALSO....it'll be our 2yo birthday....our 10 year anniversary......my SILs 11 year anniversary....and my inlaws 51st anniversary....
Where do we get the PINS from?

I bring both and alternate depending on what we're doing. But, the only flip flops I wear to WDW are FitFlops. They are just as comfy as my tennies. They provide great support and there are many different styles and colors to choose from.

As for the pins, I believe you can get them at City Hall in the MK.

Have fun!

i wear only fit-flops or tevas also. DD wears tevas,
DH wears sneakers or a worn-in pair of loafers.
imho, real fit-flops are the best thing for walking miles and miles....

wear sneakers (tennis shoes) on the plane ride there, and pack at least 2 pairs of other footwear per person. that gives time for one pair to dry out, and allow any abrasions to heal by wearing a different pair.
:)

i only wear crocs. never had any trouble, but ymmv.

guest services at all the parks, some resorts and dtd usually have the pins. there can be a variety available depending on where you are at. MK usually has the largest variety that i have seen - as above poster stated - city hall. they even put them out on display in front of the building occasionally.

I wear Teva Mush flip flops most of the time. I would DIE in sneakers and socks! It is just too hot for me. My husband and step son wear Keens and my step daughter wears flip flops and crocs. We've never had an issue with blisters or achy feet!:thumbsup2

Having plantar fasciitis and going to WDW several times a year I've spent a fortune trying to find the perfect shoe. I can't stand tennis shoes down there. They're too hot and make my feet really hurt, but if I do wear them down there the best I've found are the New Balance (the ones with the higher numbers). Usually though I am most comfortable in a pair of good flip flops. Due to the plantar fasciitis I can't wear the cheap ones though, as they don't have enough arch support or heel cushion. Until the plantar fasciitis I swore by Teva Mush, but unfortunately can no longer wear them for long periods.:sad2: For the last year or so I've worn OluKai Ohanas, Sketcher Tone Ups, FitFlops, Orthoheel, or Montrail Molokini flipflops. The OluKai Ohanas are probably the most comfortable flip flops I own, followed closely by the Sketcher Tone Up flip flops. These flip flops are quite a bit more expensive than traditional rubber flip flops, but oh so worth the price for the comfort they provide.:cloud9:

So tough to say. It can be different for each person. I'm a flip flop girl. I love Nike ones, they are super comfy. I honestly wear them all summer so my feet are just used to them. I will not wear tennis cause I always remember as a kid my mother buying new shoes for us for the trip and or course we always got blisters

I say I'm sure either will work... Just wear them around a bit before. Get a good walk in them.

My kids will be in sandals or crocs. Most of the time they are riding in strollers for the big walks though and my son hates if his socks get wet so we're safe with those pics.

You should treat your feet VERY WELL while walking at WDW and for me, that means only the best athletic shoes with no-show socks:worship:I learned the hard (painful) way that even my "most comfortable" sandals in Illinois do not hold up to the extensive walking while in WDW:headache:And flip flops--forget about 'em......I had a blister within the first couple hours and had to go back to the room to change. These are the same flip flops I can wear all day at home. I look at the walking as a major work-out and dress my feet accordingly. No more pain, no more blisters, and I can kick it into high gear easily :cool1:

Last trip I wore my New Balance tennis shoes that I love and had been wallking with them on the treadmill serveral miles a day prior to our trip. Wore them down there and withing the first couple of days I had 8 blisters all on the same foot and a few more on the other. It was terrible. This time I am going with my Keens and taking tennis shoes as back up.

You might want to bring both with you just in case, but I vote for tevas. They have never hurt my feet and they will be cooler than socks and sneakers. Plus if you get caught in the rain like my family just did 2 weeks ago your sneakers wont be dry for the next day.
