Going in April....hate sneakers...can one wear flip flops to the parks? They ok to wear on rides etc?

The last few times I've been, I've intended just to wear sneakers. But instead I slipped on my flip flops! They were very comfortable to walk around the parks in.
Just be careful in lines of people stepping on the sole of the show! This happened to me in the line for Splash Mountain. A woman stood on the sole of my flip flop and I couldn't move, she also cut my heel when she stood on me. Ouch!

ETA: I just remembered my mother's flip flop fell off on BTM! Just make sure you grip your feet when you're on a fast ride.

Yeah, for those reasons, I warn folks against wearing flip-flops in the parks. If you really don't want to wear sneakers, invest in these:

Just make sure your feet are able to handle being in them for hours. I read somewhere on here about someone who got a stress fracture in the bottom of her foot from walking in flip-flops. It probably depends on how they're built.

You may want to look at the new style crocs - they're flip flops and they look really comfortable. I think their style name is Athens II.

I hate shoes and sneakers, and love my flip flops and Birkenstock's, however some times after a long day at a park I find that the bottoms of my feet get very sore. I think it's the friction of the skin on the material of the flip flop. My DD loves to wear her flips flops too, but I always fear her toes will get trampled! I think the shoes that are posted earlier look like they would be great, I am also a recent convert to Crocs for the parks!

As others have said, beware of flip flop, clog type shoes on Soarin' - take them off!!!

I don't have any crocs yet but I do want the Athens. I love flip flops and those look like they would be nice and comfortable for the parks. They don't have them for sale on the crocs site yet and I have not seen crocs around my area.

I often times were flip flops in the parks. For me flip flops are very comfy as they are what I primarly wear from May-Ocotber!! I have never had an issue with them falling off, but one time I made the mistake of wearing a pair that was fairly worn on the bottom and I slipped on some water (luckily I caught my balance before falling). Other than that I will add that flip flops are not easy to run with on while it is raining.

I myself have a preference for flip flops. I tried to comfortably wear them for an entire day at MK, and it didn't work out very well. I found that in the extreme August heat, my feet actually felt hotter than in sneakers!

My way around this to give my feet a breather would be to slip on my favorite pair after going back to the hotel for rest. I'm refreshed and ready to go, and it is usually around dusk or so, so the air is cooler and I won't have to walk in them as long!

I also will wear them to DTD for a breather as well. I just can't take being stuck in sneakers all the time!

I've worn them and I can tell you, you will get stepped on - A LOT! :furious: I got so tired of almost taking a header each time someone could not keep off the backs of my shoes that I vowed never to wear them in the parks again. Just not enough protection from the masses. I've considered those "walking sandals" but I've not yet overcome the ugly-factor. I have thin legs and tiny ankles and if I wear anything that clunky I look a lot like Olive Oyl. :scared:

If you chose flip flops that have a very wide band they should stay snugly on your feet. I have a pair of Rainbow (the brand) sandals that I have just for WDW. Over a couple of days wear they mold to the shape of your feet and don't do as much flopping as you would normally think of flip flops. However I have to warn you that they are a little $$$

I've worn my Teva Mush flip flops in the parks before without a problem. :thumbsup2

I love my flip flops!

I usually plan on wearing my tennis shoes, and almost always wear flip flops instead. Soarin does make you remove them...but has a place for them on the ride underneath you, with your hat, glasses, whatever. If I am am a ride I think I may lose them I take them off and hold them in my hand. Just use your best judgement. And yes, they will be stepped on more time than you will be able to count!

The new flip-flop crocs look nice! I saw them 2 days ago at the Hallmark store! Check there!!

I just got my CROCS flip flops yesterday. I ordered them last week from NoFearGear.com

I don't know why CROCS.com doesn't have them yet, but other people are selling them already? But I LOVE mine. Very comfy, just like my regular CROCS. I got a pair for DH too. :)

i wear cheap nike rubber and canvas flips all day every day in wdw, and have never had any problems. what are you people doing that results in others stepping on your feet? i don't think this has ever happened to me.

wear your flip flops with reckless abandon. do whatcha like.

Thanks Magical JenK. I'll keep an eye on the croc site. Going to the mall this weekend so I will look there too.
