Flip Flops at WDW

try ordering FitFlops, they are suppose to provide alot of support and still give that flip flop feel. Just Google FitFlops. I plan on buying some for my wife and girls soon. Enjoy your trip

I used to only wear full-support athletic shoes at WDW, after getting shin splints on my honeymoon wearing knock-off Keds.

I tried Fit-Flops three trips ago, and will never go back to tennis shoes! All of the comfort and convenience of a flip flop with the support of an athletic shoe. I love them!

I used to only wear sneakers (usually good running shoes) in Disney, and couldn't understand how people wore flip flops. One of the trips I tried out my Reef Sandy flip flops in the parks, and turns out that was a LOT more comfortable. I can walk all day now (and I'm an open-close, 4 parks 1 day kind of girl), and be far more comfortable at the end of the day than I was in sneakers walking far fewer miles. I would NEVER wear Old Navy or other basic flip flops in the parks though. They need to be something with support (Teva, Reef, etc). Tevas are too narrow for my feet, but Reefs work quite well for me.

I can't stand to wear athletic shoes at WDW, they are way too hot and confining. My toes need to breathe! :rotfl2:

I wear flip flops to WDW all the time and I'm perfectly comfortable. Not the cheapo Old Navy kind, but flip flops with a little support. My favorite are my Merrells.

They are all I wear everytime we go....the only time I take them off and I see others do as well....is for when we are riding Soarin...you either leave them on the floor by your seat or put them in the basket under your seat....

Another vote for Teva mush flip flops :thumbsup2 Love them, I also love Reef's and Bjorn flip flops. I've only ever really had problems with flip flops where the strap rubs on the top of my foot too much, but those are with plastic flip flops. Don't wear those for very long!! I've also found really comfy Target flip flops on occasion.

I wore Teva Mush flip flops last year for at least 2 days in the parks and had no problem!!! I love them and will wear them again this year. Also, my DD13 wore Rocket Dogs flip flops and said that they were super comfy!!!

In the summer the only shoes I wear are flip flops, lol. We went to Disney last year in Feb. I wore my Nike flip flops ( I am obsessed withthem ) for a few days in the parks and I was fine. My daughter is 14 now and she loves flip flops too. I have two small children 3 & 5 and I wouldn't let them wear them all day at the parks though. It's because they haven't mastered the art of wearing them!

I had no problems at all. On the days that I wore my sneakers it was worse for me and I have GOOD tennis shoes too.

I remeber I went in May, and it would rain everday, and since i'm 23 years young with a 2 year old daughter I could get away with it.
Unfortunately, it rained one day, and I came into a fancy Disney resturaunt sopping wet with water coming out of my flip flops every step.
I married my high school sweetheart who turned out to be a millionaire. So, if you have expensive flip flops, don't wear them to a fancy Dis Resturaunt, because they are overpriced junk. The ones at Old Navy are better.

:confused3

Was the part about marrying your highschool sweetheart who turned out to be a millionaire supposed to explain why you had expensive flip flops? lol
go on with yo' bad self, girl! I ain't hatin!

Well, I pretty much live in my flip flops (at least until winter forces me to wear real shoes ) so my feet are resistant to the pain that many people get from wearing them. I mean, I trek around my college campus in them on a daily basis, so the wearing them in the parks weren't a problem. If your daughter is used to wearing flip flops while walking long distances/in everyday life, I don't see a problem with her wearing them at Disney. I would definitely bring a pair of back-up shoes though, just in case she changes her mind mid-trip. And if she's wearing the cheap plastic Old Navy kind (which I own practically every color of ;)), I definitely recommend wearing a pair that has already been broken in.

I wear flip flops a lot when I'm there. I don't have any problems with them but I do always take a pair of walking shoes on the trip as well. And it's actually a luxury to have the flips flops when it rains or on a ride such as Kali River Rapids. I hate walking around in soaked athletic shoes. As others have said, take them off on Soarin' and put them in the basket under the seat.

Are Crocs a good alternative? I have heard things about them being bad for you feet or back I think...but has anyone wore them to the parks all day? Do they work, or do they cause pain?

I bought Sketchers sandals, they are tennis shoe bottoms and comfy sandal tops. I have been walking all over with them and they are very comfy.:thumbsup2

I have a pair that are Colombia brand and I don't have to work to keep them on so they don't make my legs tired as other brands do. I always wear flip flops, they dry out quick and sneakers make my feet hot.

Oh being young. I remember the shoes I used to wear to theme parks and other all day excursions when I was in high school. Heck in college I used to wear 4'' heels to class, and I went to a big school with lots of walking. Now I'm in my athletic shoes or clarks every day. haha

I'll wear flip flops most of the time while at WDW. I usually bring 2 or 3 comfy pairs, ones with extra cushion on the sole, and rotate them throughout our trip. I also bring a good pair of sneakers in case I need a change. My feet tend to hurt worse if I wear the same shoes day in & day out.

I am another person who only wears flip flops at Disney. My feet would be way to hot in any kind of closed to shoe. My best recommendation is to get a few pairs of good quality flip flops (Crocs, Tevas, Reef) and trade them out every day so you don't develop blisters, just like you should with any other kind of shoe. The most important thing to do is make sure whatever you wear has been worn in before you go. On a side note my husband refused to bring anything other than a few pairs of tennis shoes with us and we had to make a trip to DTD to by him a pair for Reefs half way through our last trip.

I wore a pair of Reef flip flops to Disneyland in 2007. I love Reef and my feet never hurt in them like with cheep flip flops. I have had some pairs for years. That being said, I wore out the pair in one day at DL. :scared1: My feet were fine at the end of the day tho! I will NOT be wearing sandals in a park again, if for no other reason than Reef flip flops start at about $25. I will be buying a decent pair of walking shoes for my WDW trips form now on.
