Assuming they are comfortable to walk in.. I thought they may be a bonus on rides such as splash etc...

Are they allowed on all rides?

PS... we don't do crocs. :)

I have done it, however, my feet are black by the end of the day - gross! I'm with you though on the Crocs - I will never buy them for my family or put them on my feet. Yuck!

I would consider if you can walk in them all day. Disney won't have a problem but will you as you walk and stand in line? I've known many people who like them and some that are surprised when they suddenly get blisters from them.

We wear them occasionally if its going to be a light walking day and we are going on rides where we might get wet. But if we are going to be doing a lot of walking we wear shoes.

I lived in mine for the 6 days I was there in June. I wear them all the time though.

I wouldn't do flip flops. Even though I live in them at home, all the standing and walking at WDW really took a toll on my foot. I had a lot of pain and when I got home, I got a tendonitis dx. A year and a half later, it's still bothering me.

Since you won't do Crocs (who cares what they look like, they're comfy!) I would suggest some water proof sandal/tennis shoes. I can't think of any brands off the top of my head.

I think the key is to make sure you break them in before your trip, and to alternate them with another style once you're there.

I live in flipflops and found that after a full day of waking, walking and more walking, my feet were sore. REAL sore. No blisters, but my left foot was so tender, it felt like I'd broken a small bone in it. I was limping around until we finally went back to the hotel to change clothes. I put on my Privas and instantly felt like my feet were in heaven. I think it was the lack of support that did me in.

We did flip flops back in June. The only problem we had was at the Silly Symphony Swing, which we had to take them off, after hearing stories about shoes flying into the lagoon. We didn't want to risk it. ;)

Flip-flops are the official shoe of Southern California.
I just walked around WDW for 9 days in them (I have done this 3 times by the way.) and I ALWAYS walk around Disneyland in them.
You will have no problem with the CM's letting you wear them, all you have to do is get a good pair that are comfy to you.
My dh loves his Nike flip-flops. I wear Rainbow brand .
Happy walking!

Thank you everyone.. my plan is to get the children to wear their comfiest walking shoes.. I am thinking DS will pick his Nike joggers and DD full leather sandals... then take flip flops in our backpack for the wet rides so they dont have wet shoes/socks for all the other walking...

Also we are doing DL in several shorts bursts over 8 days so will only be there for maybe 4 hours max at a time.

I did it almost everyday last week with no issue. Gotta love my $2 Old Navy flip flops. :)

I have a pair of Old Navy flip flops too that I got for free at a convention. I brought them in case I went on River Rapids and didn't want to get my tennis shoes wet. Well, one day we went back to the hotel for a nap but the maid was there. So I just took off my shoes and put the flip flops on to wear while we waited in the lobby for her to finish. I couldn't even walk down parking lot from our room. They kept falling off or kind of hurt if I went too fast. I was just shuffling behind my family trying to keep up. :rotfl: I've only worn them by the pool. I don't know how people wear them all day! :confused3 For all day walking I like my New Balance.

I bring mine for wet rides, but I don't wear them for the entire day because my arches are a little higher than normal and I need excellent support.

If you're looking for flip flops with excellent support, try Montrail "Molokini" flip flops. These are the ones I wear day in and day out at home and on errands. They are amazingly comfortable, plus my chiropractor loves them, too. :thumbsup2

Here's a pic of my Molokini!

I think flip flips are fine at DLR. Maybe not for more than a day...but it probably depends on what kind they are. I've gone twice this year in Havaiana's and I was fine. I wore croc flip flops to WDW. I would NEVER do WDW in regular flip flops...

Consider the croc flip flops. I also have a pair I wear in the house while I'm baking because I seem to be on my feet so much in the kitchen.

I wore them all day long for two days at DLR (7am-11pm--including the walk to and from hotel, wich was on Katella) and my feet were fine! Although my sister who wears flip flops all the time said her feet were hurting, and she changed shoes mid-day.
Then again, I have gone all day in heels (7am-9pm) so I guess I am used to putting my feet through pain, and I have gotten used to it lol.

I have some foot problems due to a torn tendon a few years ago, so I have to have shoes with arch support. For a full day of walking I always wear my New Balance shoes.

This recent trip I had a pair of Champion flip flops (from payless) They were great--had a fabulous arch support! I tended to wear the New Balance shoes most of the day, but when we went back to the hotel mid-day I would put the flip flops on and wear them through the evening.

They sell Mickey FitFlops in the park, but they are very pricey. The Champion ones are similar but cheaper :)

I only wear flip flops. But, the key is to buy good ones with support...not the cheap $1.99 versions. My favorites are FitFlops. They are very comfy. My feet just get too hot in shoes and socks. In fact, last time I wore shoes, I got blisters from walking too much in them.

My FitFlops are a dream. and, we do a lot of walking...two teenagers who like to bounce from ride to ride (usually on opposite sides of park).

I too am a flip flop wearer. I live in them no matter where I am. I do not like enclosed shoes. Even my tennis shoes are slip ons. As you can see by reading all these responses, I think it really depends on the wearer. Some people just like tennis shoes, while others are comfortable in flip flops. Whatever you are used to should work for you.

I wear flip flops year round, even in the snow! BUT I wore them the first day we went this time and I had blisters by the end of the day, which made my feet hurt the next 3 days we were there. They are allowed on all the rides, but I wouldn't recommend them.
