In the roll in showers there are flip down chairs, is there a weight limit for the chair?

I don't know of any weight limit and I don't remember seeing one written anywhere in the shower. Hopefully somebody else here will be able to give you a better answer than me! Or, if you phone either the hotel or special reservations, they should be able to tell you.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful!

I was told by our local ( in AL.) medical suply store that the normal weight max on most madels is 250 lbs, but ther are some that are built to hold more. I would call and see if they can tell you at least wich make, model and year the yare using and you can call the company directly and ask them. Sorry I could not help more, but I hope that this is of some help.

I have never seen a posted weight limit on any of the showers, but many of the flip down seats are like this one (from OKW) and have no legs to support them.

I would not trust them for more than 250 pounds and actually the ADA Guidelines only require the seats to hold up to 250 pounds.

If you need a higher weight limit chair, I would suggest contacting an off-site medical equipment company like Care and ask for a bath chair that would be appropriate for the weight.

They also have the bench seats that go in the shower. You can request one at check-in. My cousin requested one on our last visit. It's the one like you buy at the stores-metal with the white plastic seat. She used it for in a regular shower. I'm not sure what the weight limit is on those, but they look a lot sturdier than the pull down seat.

It is true that you can request one from the resort, but our experience with doing that has not been good, so I would strongly suggest also taking along contact information from an off-site place.
The last 3 times we requested an extra shower bench, there were problems with it. Mostly loose screws/bolts.
The last time was just 2 weeks ago and the shower bench was very low (only about 14 inches from the ground when it should be 17-19 inches) and very rickety. The main bolt on the bottom was so loose that the legs splayed out when the bench was sat on. We were using the bench mostly to hold things when doing care for DD, but someone using it to sit on could easily have fallen. We complained each time we got a chair with a problem and explained what the problem was.

If the person is 250 pounds or more, I would recommend going with an off-site place. They would be more likely to have an appropriate shower bench and would be more likely to have done an inspection before sending it out.

Agreeing with the off-site recommendations. Mine is made by Safety First, and it's got a 250 pound limit on the box (never used, my sister bought it for me when I broke my hip but I managed).

I ended up in an accessible room at WL a few years ago (checking in the night before Thanksgiving, and the whole hotel was full) and it had a flip down seat. Little did I know at the time I checked in (thinking it was a shame to waste an accessible room on me) I was coming down with the fever and chills flu. That flip down seat was a lifesaver for about three days when I was too dizzy to stand for more than a few seconds at a time, but really wanted a shower. I don't know what I weighed at that time, but I know I was wearing a 26/28 in clothing sizes, so I was probably pretty close to that 250 limit, or maybe even over. It seemed very secure.
