Hi,
For the past 2 years, instead of going direct with Virgin Atlantic, we have done a connection which has made it cheaper.
We went from Manchester Airport with BMI on flight BD705 to Chicago and then a connection from Chicago to Orlando with Ted (Ran on behalf of United) on flight UA1534.
Maybe you should check it out for a good flight.

P.S. If you go with kids, yes they do have Seatback TV's with standard games.

We have used them twice now. IMHO the best transatlantic carrier out there. New clean planes, good food, good seat pitch and friendly staff. Only paid £300 each last Aug when Virgin wanted £750ish. Unfortunately their prices could not beat Virgin Miles and Money this Aug. I hope for them to do direct Man-Mco one day.

I would agree that you need to investigate the various options of indirect flights, even via European hubs, the only thing I would say is that if you have young children, you are looking at between 10-12 hour journey times and that can be a little wearing on the little uns

Wearing on the adults also:lmao: but we have been doing indirect with DS since he was 3 and taking upto 16 hours one Xmas, they soon get over it when they are in Disney.

Yeah
It can be hard for smaller ones but can be a lot cheaper sometimes.
One thing about BMI is they do have good seat pitches and good food. It is decent enough to eat.
There are other carriers that you can do to Orlando but not direct. There is Thomson Fly for example but that is into Sanford. Other operators like First Choice also fly into Sanford.
One perk about going into Orlando is the Magical Express.

MCO is the only way for me heres hoping next aug will not be too expensive

I am predicting No Virgin flights under £850 and Miles and Money £550. They will be released soon, although they did not release Miles and Money until Xmas day for this August. I will be checking every option.

Fair comment but this approach is worthy of consideration for those who end up with a domestic transfer through London or elsewhere.

In fact on the way back it's better to get the "domestic" flight over with in US time in my opinion.

We did Continental via Newark to MCO a while back when they first started flying from EDI because of the price.
Outward was a bit longer as we normally have an overnight stay in the UK but inward was better as we landed at our local airport.

On a random sample of 1 (1st to 8th Nov) Continental want $950 EDI to MCO, Virgin want £420 for the transatlantic part.
Obviously M+M is an option but by the time I factor in domestic flights, hotel and food there is not a lot in it.

I think Virgin have it just about right with the M+M deals as I've looked at going through Amsterdam etc but it never quite made it on price.

The above is hardly indicative but as you say keep your options open to suit your circumstances.

Jakey, if you go to Continentals UK web site you can get the price in GBP (under other options)

Showing cheapest fare at £552.40 witn a 13 hour 8 min total flying time via NWK

I got the $ price from the continental website, maybe there is a fiddle factor when you ask for it in sterling

Either that or I've caused a rush on the route :)
