The flights to NJ seem very high for the last week in August. Has anybody had any experience flying to NJ that time of year? Should I wait and hope the flights go down or bite the bullet before they go up? I know this is a crap shoot either way. We have flights there already, they were much cheaper. TIA

Why don’t you ask on the Transportation board?

i live in NJ and while we usually fly to and from PHL, we have flown from Newark a few times. At the moment prices are probably on the more expensive side. But as you get closer to the time you want to fly, you should check out Spirit Airlines fares, as they are on the less expensive side (You can't book tickets for late August through Spirit at the moment).

It's been high, I also use either PHL or EWR. PHL, I use SW or Frontier or Spirit. At EWR I use Jet Blue,Frontier or Spirit. I prefer SW and Jet Blue, of course.

I miss SW using EWR.

The ultra low cost airlines and Southwest haven't released their flights yet for this period, so you can always wait until then. Where are you planning to go in NJ?

Yes, SW left Newark, which is why I miss them.

I live in central NJ, so using PHL is another airport option for us, and I like PHL airport. Some central NJ folks do not think about using PHL, it is an easy drive and worth consideration (if you live within 90 minutes of it).

Are you traveling from FL? Depending on where you need to get to, Spirit also flies to and from Atlantic City Airport and I believe Frontier flies out of Trenton/Mercer County Airport.

It's often relatively high that time of year as its our last week of school break in NJ, so a lot of people travel the end of August. But living closest to Newark, I fly mostly out of Trenton or Philly. Flights are often cheaper than Newark at both of those airports and I find both of them much easier to navigate. I mostly fly Frontier (which also has seasonal flights now to Newark from a limited number of airports) and flights to Florida that time of year can be had for $100 or less before potential fees. But I'm not sure where you are traveling from which makes a difference.

Depending on your end destination I've also used Albany to Florida for just the right day/time and price.

I fly EWR MCO several times a year and usually include one trip mid/late August. With SW out of the picture, it’s either JB or United. At my age and with health challenges, I would never consider Spirit or connecting flights, so those are out, too.

Fares have been running high but if you check seats not many are taken. I’m holding out for lower fares which I think will happen.

I'm doing PHL this trip instead of EWR. Even with parking I'm saving $500. Price out of EWR last few years have been terrible. Only fly out of there for work reasons. You could look at TTN once the schedule for Frontier extends
