I am trying to plan a trip to buy into DVC (we're from QC, so we can't buy from home :headache: ) and we figured we might as well visit DL, as we have never gone and it will be a short trip, so I checked the flights...

:scared1:

it's so expensive! Even leaving from Syracuse, which we do when we go to Orlando, the prices are about the same!

Does anybody know if flights are usually this expensive (eg 1200$/2 adults) for flight to California in July?

And do you have any tips on how we could fly cheaper?

Thanks guys!

You might as well fly to Orlando and do it there. We bought ours in Disneyland because we flew from Calgary and they had smokin incentives at the time.. Flights are very high right now. Are you buying there for incentives or just because you want to check it out? I have found the best deal on flights by going to travelocity.ca....yup I know the last website you would expect has consistently given me the best prices of late!

Are you close to Bradley Airport (near Albany).
They have Delta flights forabout $324 +tax to Orange County (John Wayne Airport)

I actually didn't know that incentives were different at WDW than at DL... Is there a way that I can learn about their differences?

Oh, and by the way, thank you SO MUCH for that info!:goodvibes

Thanks, but we're in Gatineau, so a little far...

We usually fly out of Syracuse because we have family there who drive us to the airport... They're awesome!

Like that previous poster mentioned, if you're flying out of the US, look for alternate airports other than LAX. Canadians have to fly into LAX because we're international flights. For Disneyland, you have multiple options. The closest airport is John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana (SNA). There's LAX, and there's also Long Beach Airport a bit further away (LGB). They might not be direct flights, but you could find some major savings.

We took advantage of DH's aeroplan points to go to DLR last year. It was the same amount of points to fly to California as to go to FLorida, so we thought we might as well give it a try.

We have never been able to get a deal to the smaller airports from Calgary. It is always cheaper to fly into LAX than SNA from Calgary. The incentives are a bit better at DL. You can get 2 regular annual passes to WDW or 2 enhanced passes to DL in addition to whatever incentives they are offering at WDW. If you buy at DL you will getting founding members rights to GCV. What all that means is you will get first crack at buying at GCV before anyone else but I am sure there are really plenty of points to go around. I believe the developer points incentive has ended and they have replaced it with a 500 dollar Disney gift card HTH:)
