Bummer! Wish I had seen this before I booked my flights :(:( I doubt they'd let me use it on an already booked reservations.

Good luck with your flights! I am hoping to get a decent price for our upcoming trip to Aulani in Spring of 2016! We also are from NY and are traveling with 4 kids so I'm not sure if we should plan a stop over/day in CA or try to go direct? Has anybody on here shipped some of their luggage directly to Aulani?? Just wondering if that saves us any money or if it evens out with the bag charge anyway.

We booked last August at just over $600 a ticket from Newark to Honolulu direct. I would wait. I mean come on, I'm looking at going to WDW this August and last week the tickets there were over $600. It's the east coast winter weather that is keeping prices high. Good luck.

I checked the Hawaiian Airlines site yesterday because I got half a message left on my machine from Hawaiian Airline and was checking to see if my flight time changed in August. My flight fare changed from $854 rt when I booked in January to $734 rt! It's killing me that I could have saved $120 a ticket! And when I called to see policy for refunds, their fare showed $924 rt so they can't issue a credit. sigh.

They said the same thing to me. I told them that I was clearly looking at the fare, and I told them the fare code that I saw. They then gave me a credit for $200 per ticket. The credit is probably useless to me though, I dont think I will be going back in the next year.

Have you tried looking at US Airways? Their prices seem pretty reasonable from JFK - HNL (when I looked). ALSO, if you sign up for their US Airways MasterCard, you get up to two guests to travel with you on US Airways operated flights at $99 each, plus taxes and fees. Alaska Airlines Visa will give you a single companion ticket annual for the same fee. Might be a way of getting more tickets for less $$

Mduff, are you not able to get the Hawaiian Airlines nonstop from jfk on tht way to HNL. That is the flight we are taking in September. Have taken that flight before and it was great.

We booked the late night JFK with a stop in Las Vegas, arriving at HNL at 5am. Figured we would spend the day settling in, napping and doing a Costco run, rather than spending the day traveling. Works out better for us points wise.

Yeah, figured the credit wouldn't do me any good either so I didn't press the point. Wish the credit could be used on extra comfort upgrades.

Even if we could, it would not have helped us. We were on the 767 and those dont have the extra comfort upgrades. What was really goofy is that they had the coach bulkhead row marked as premium and they were empty on both legs of our trip. At first they said they could be booked 24 hours out, but they wanted $50 per seat just to move up a couple rows...... not a big benefit for that cost.

I definitely noticed how uncomfortable the HA first seats are compared to US Air, AA, and United. Not much room and just not pleasant to sit in for 6 hours.
