Good morning to the lovely people (you know who you are)

It has been a long time since I have posted and I have had to make do with lurking in the background and biding my time until I get the chance to return to the World.

Well it's, apparently, happening in April next next year. No one is more surprised than me. We have our accommodation already booked but now we need to book our flights.

My question to you good people is when are the flights usually released?

We will be over there between 5th and 26th April, 3 weeks woohoo.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Steve

A generally rule is they are released 11 months from the date of the flight so you will be looking at 11 months from your return. BA are sometimes ahead of that and VS usually a bit behind.

Be warned that covers the Easter school holidays so prices will be high even on realease.

Thank you for that I was figuring on 11 months from our outbound so we still have a bit of time to wait. Unfortunately I know it will be over the Easter Holiday but I will be taking my son out of school and really don't want to pull him out for more than 1 week.

Thanks

Steve

Can you change your accommodation dates? I go at Easter most years and flying on a Saturday attracts a HUGE premium. Knocking off a day or two either end will save you a LOT. We paid around £420 per adult (less as there was a little bit of cashback) for indirect flights this year, but that was 11 days rather than 14to avoid the premium weekend prices. That was in the school holidays.

BTW Air Canada release their flights earlier than other airlines so they're already out.

Unfortunately we can't change the dates, the accommodation is pretty much set in stone. We will start trawling for flights once the prices are released. We would prefer to fly direct but if there is a big enough saving to be made making a stop it won't be a problem. We have friends joining us on this trip from various parts of the US and it is arranged around us and them and these dates work.

Thanks

Stephen

Fair enough - prepare to be horrified by the direct flight prices - Virgin wanted over £1500 per adult for the Saturday flights when we looked for our 2013 trip. In economy....Though, of course, that was the Easter weekend this year, whereas next year it won't be.

If it is that bad we could always let the a few days slip but would prefer to get there with everyone else. We will just have to sit patiently and see what the damage will be.

As the PP's have said, flights are released 11 months from your return date. Saturday flights over Easter are likely to sting quite a bit, but if that is your only option, what can you do? The charter airlines may have fly/drive out now, I know people who have booked for October next year who have their flights booked. I would start by checking those to see if there are any decent prices. Failing that, I'd consider indirect.
