I'm trying to help a friend book their March Break trip and am astounded at how much airfare is. Even through Buffalo it's still $350/person.

Where did you book and what kind of prices did you get?

They're flexible, either Toronto, Hamilton or Buffalo.

That sounds extremely high! We're flying out of Seattle to Orlando for $314/person on Alaska Air and it's cheaper!

Have you tried looking into Independence Air? We got a great deal flying with them over the summer. They do a lot of east coast routes. Plus, if you join their iclub, you get $25 off a round trip ticket (you may want to check if that's still available though).

We also had trouble for our January flight. The best we found was Kelowna air through selloffvacations $333 each out of Toronto inclusive.

Booked Air Canada-most we have ever paid $650/person r/t -Toronto to Orlando. Other airlines didn't have dates available that we could use.

Westjet is also at $600 and the return flight wouldn't be until Tues the 22nd.

Canjet to Sarasota is $870.

Even Skyservice is at $953.

AirTransat is also over $600.

Booked last summer on Air Canada - 4 x $398

We are leaving Toronto March 19 and returning March 27. (This is the March break period for TDSB elementary schools.) We actually wanted to go a week earlier but the airfare for the four of us on AC was going to be about $700 more. (My understanding is that the week before is March break for much of the rest of Ontario)

At the time, I was checking fares on the AC website and called their reservation line to get some information on the various fare categories. The agent was able to put me on a fare that was cheaper than the ones showing on the AC website at the time.

Our March break is the 11th-19th this year (one less day at Xmas-added one day to March break). Our airfare was insane-oh well, we're still going-will have to make up for it in other ways!

Hi everyone. Well it's been two years since I've come to this site. We are going to WDW for March Break (March 12-20). I booked the at par deal and we got a one bedroom villa at the BCV. I am shocked how expensive the flights are. The best ones out of Toronto seem to be Jetsgo, Air Transat and Skyservice, but these will cost me around $4000 for four of us to fly down. Westjet is less but it does not have the dates I want. These are non-stop flights. The one stop flights seem to be cost around $2300 for the four of us.

My question is, should I book our flight now or should I wait on the theory that these flights will eventually go on sale. If there are any DIS'ers out there who are travel agents, do you have any advice for me and others?

Beth

Not a TA but I'm going over March break too and there is less and less out there everyday.
Air Canada still has some seats (flight out not very nice one and have a stopover-but coming back is direct mid afternoon) total for 4 people was around $3000.
Good luck and maybe we'll see you there-we're at BC.

Just found a US Airways flight during March break (not direct) for $438 per person all taxes incl.

This is the best I've seen so far!

I have been trying to find reasonable?? flights to Orlando for the end of JAnuary and NO luck! These prices are ridiculous - you can fly to Europe for these prices!

We are a family of 6 so as of right now we are driving - from Ontario. We drove 3 years ago and it went fine - but it is nice to get on a plane and be there in 2 hours!

My best rate so far was out of Flint, Michigan for all 6 of us at $1200 US. It is not a bad rate BUT the flight time is 6:00 a.m.! SO when I factor in that we would have to stay the night before in Flint, I figure we can be half way to Florida in the 12 hours that it takes to travel to Flint and spend the night.

The getting to Florida has been more of a decision than the actual Cruise we are taking!

I know what you mean-over the last several years we have been paying more and more everytime we fly to Orlando. For March break it is costing us around the same $ to fly first class as it is with limited econo fares that are left for our dates. We paid $600 per person in April (Easter) and the same in October (supposed to be slow period). It is costing us slightly less for our entire land/sea vacation than our airfare-pretty sad.

I don't know if it is an option for any of you, but spirit air out of Detroit had some great prices and flight times the last time I checked.

Québec March break is Feb. 27 to Mar. 4., which is earlier that the rerst of Canada and the States school break.

For a Friday Feb 25 departure and Mar. 7 return, Expedia priced this trip at 396$ can (return). Yul (Mtl) to MCO (Orlando) via LaGuardia (change plane) with United. We really do not care about plane change has we travel only once per year and the kids love flying.

Expedia even had a deal at 545$ for the same date for Air AND Hotel (Econolodge Hawaiian - not comment please)

I originally booked the cheapest flights out of Buffalo on SW for our cruise March 12-19th. The cheapest way to do it was to fly on Thursday and return on the Monday. Each way had one stop and we were leaving at 6:30 am on the way back! After weeks of hoping for the fares to go down, I decided that I just had to have the non stop flights which would cost an additional $200 US (from $116 to $141 US per person per flight).

Well, it turns out that the change to non stop flights was only $119.20 US incl taxes. She explained that it was because there are fewer airport/flight taxes etc. on a direct flight.

So it works out to about $370 Canadian per person (incl. tax). Flying on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday would be a lot more.

I'm still hoping the fares come down though...good luck to everyone :sunny:

As much as we all love flying - when it comes down to somewhere we can drive to it is a tought debate! Even at the low price disneywithkids got it would be $2220 for our family of 6! That is about 1/2 of what we paidfor our entire cruise. And 1/3 of what it cost 6 of us to fly to St. Maarten last year and stay at the Maho Resort ALL INCLUSIVE!! So it does find it hard to justify that amount of money on only the flight! Oh well, we are planning on driving and instead of taking I 75 we are going to take an alternate route and we some different states - after all we are on holidays and we as well get all that we can out of it!

Good luck to all who are still looking for the good flight deal and if you find one let me know!

Southwest.com has an internet sale on flights to Orlando starting today. My dates in March seem to be blocked out from the deals but maybe somebody else will get lucky with their dates. Also, check back later in the day because sometimes it takes them awhile to load all the new rates into the system.

Good luck!
