I am attempting to book a flight from Columbus Ohio to Orlando using sowthwest airlines for Dec 25.Prices are really high!I expect this though.Anyone with any advice?I think they are just going to go higher. They have already gone up $85.00 per person in the last 2 weeks!

We bought our 12/25-1/1 flights on Southwest from Louisville the day that SWA extended. I was so thankful that I had enough Rapid Reward points due to their recent credit card offer of 50K points. It took most of them, but if I had to pay cash for the three tickets it was almost $1500:eek:

I was scared like you that they would only go up. I got caught one year waiting. We bout southbound flights because they were "cheap" but the return flights were what I thought was too high. I thought I could just rent a one way car and drive home, well that turned out to be crazy too. I wish I had bought the roundtrip tickets at the same time as they had got worse.

Atleast with Southwest, if they do offer a better price, you can trade them in and receive a credit for a future flight. That won't help you if there isn't a flight in your future, but it may encourage another flight at a slower time.

I am booking 2 one way trips so I could use the credit towards the return flight!Do you just call SW if you see that the price drop and they credit you?

When prices change on SWA, you can make the change online. If there is a credit, it will be attached to the confirmation number and the individual names.

The credit has to be used for the same people that it was once booked for so if you had four people, you would have four distinct sets of equal credit that would have to be used by the orignal four people on a future flight within one year of the day that it was originally booked.

This is awesome! Thank you so much! Is it pretty easy to change online?

I think it's super easy compared to other airlines. From their website, on the "air" hover area, select "Change Reservation". Enter your existing flight details and it pulls up your reservation. From here, you can select to change only one segment of the flight or change the entire roundtrip. It allows you to change dates and flight numbers. It will give you a total for the new flights so you can see if it's a better deal and still back out before it's final.

Good luck with your flights.

It super easy to change online, just go into your reservation and you should be able to re-book in less than 3 clicks. :thumbsup2
