My stepsons live in IL, we live in FL. So far, my DH has always flown up there, flown back with them for the visit, and flown there again to drop them off, and flown back alone. That is a lot of flying and a lot of money. Now the boys are a little older, and have some experience travelling, so we are going to try having them fly alone for visits.
Does anyone have experience with booking flights for children alone? The boys are both eleven years old. Most of the web sites that I've been checking won't let me book flights for kids under 15...does that mean we just have to call the airline? Use a travel agent? I know it has to be possible...we are willing to pay a little extra for the attention of flight staff or whatever is necessary.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You will need to call the airline. They will charge you an unaccompied minor fee. (Varies by airline)

If at all possible try for a non-stop and don't book the last flight of the day especially if you have a connection.
