Planning my first trip 'home' and want to check out flights for April next year. Have already tried the obvious places like Virgin Holidays, Airtours, Thomson and TCD. Are there any places I haven't tried that would have flight availability this early or am I gonna have to wait till the 11-month mark?

You will probably have to wait. the only way around it would be to book a fly-drive, as these count as packages and are available now, and its actually working out cheaper for my trip in december/ january:thumbsup2

Joh, we booked a fly drive last trip with VH and it worked out cheaper than flight only for us. We selected no insurance and did not collect the car!

Joh

Since we have been DVC members we have always booked the fly drive packages with either BA or Virgin as I always wanted to make sure I got the exact day I wanted as we have to go in school holidays and it is so tight getting the time off work at this time. I didn't want to wait 11 months.

If I was going out of season I think I would wait and try and find something cheaper if I could.

I couldn't believe how expensive the August flydrives were this year but just could not risk not getting the last two weeks of August as these were the only two weeks I could get off work for the school holidays and had promised Kirsty's school to never take her out of school again. I had also booked the Disney cruise (with our DVC points) and could not risk not getting a flight!

Let us know what you decide. It is so much fun planning your first (and second and third and fourth.....) DVC holiday. I am so excited for you all and especially your first holiday all five of you.

Where are you planning to stay?

hi Joh,

it really depends on when in april you were thinking of going! for example we are going April 26 this year for 16 nights 5 adults 1 child to book a flydrive and not book the car would have cost us £2868 but i took a chance and booked when there was a sale on virgin flights in September and got flight only for £ 1830, so personally if looking around the same time i would wait for virgin sale

Sue, thanks for the advice - definitely I think we will wait. I was hoping to be able to book using Tesco Deals vouchers to save a bit of money but it looks like the only way to do that would be to book a package and not use the accommodation which works out more expensive anyway.

We are planning on staying 12 nights, I think, flying out on the Sunday and back on the Friday so we only use points for one weekend. Chances are, we'll stay at Saratoga Springs, seeing as that's our 'home' but I wouldn't mind a few days at the Boardwalk Villas (we did love it there) or Wilderness Lodge (for the proximity to MK as, with Daniel along, I suspect we'll be spending a lot of time there). Don't really want to move around too much though so will probably stick to 1 (maybe 2) resorts.
