Just of the phone to Virgin, i had booked Flights to Gatwick from Belfast on the 12th July , Gatwick to Orlando 13th July at 12.35 , Orlando to Gatwick 3rd Aug at 19.55 and Gatwick to Belfast on the 4th August.
My invoice read Belfast to Gatwick on the the 13th July, Gatwick to Orlando 13th July at 11.15, Orlando to Gatwick 3rd August 17.50 and Gatwick to Belfast 4th August.
My wife does not be well so we flew the day before this year so as not to be rushing and losing a nights sleep, which with the flight to Orlando would have a detrimental effect on my DW.
The Virgin Rp i spoke to on the phone said if i wanted to fly on the 12th it would cost £297 extra, i told him i had already booked over the phone for the 12th July for the price quoted, but he said i couldnt fly then unless i paid the money, after quite some time on the phone he eventually decided to offer me flights a day later, so fly to Gatwick on the 13th July and on to Orlando on the 14th July coming back on the 4th August.
A day is not much of a difference but it was not what i had booked over the phone, so in future i will be booking over the net then i will see what i have booked and not depend on someone at the end of the phone

Connecting flights from Belfast to Gatwick are always advertised as subject to availability and are sometimes a bit of a lottery. Virgin normally book the whole lot on one particular day, rarely actually providing you with flights the day before, unless they see a problem with the time available between flights on the day of travel. If this is the case they may even provide accommodation the night before as well but generally speaking Flybe's schedules always allow ample same-day connection time. Another point to consider is the date which you chose to fly from Belfast, July 12th. This, as I'm sure you're well aware, is one of the main holiday days in Northern Ireland, a fact which is not lost on the airlines serving us here. Premium holiday periods = premium fares, something even Virgin have little control over. Glad you got it sorted eventually though. There are quite a few of us on the boards here with plenty of experience of using this route so if you need any more help/info feel free to ask. :thumbsup2

i noticed it as soon as i recieved the invoice, the girl who took my booking said it was not a problem flying the day before our flight, dont know why she put the wrong date down.
when i went this year i flew the day before, it saves having to be at the airport at 4 in the morning and losing a nights sleep ,as travelling to florida is tiring enough.
so now that it is sorted i can decide on where i am going to be staying for the first 10 days, maybe wait till i recieve invoice before booking
