We are taking our 1st trip with then 18mo baby in Feb. we have ALWAYS taken the 1st flight out at 6:40am (that gets in at 10am MCO time) with the cost of a disney trip we get there as soon as humanly possible. My DH wants to still take that flight but I can't fathom that with a baby!! He doesn't think of that. What time do you guys fly with little ones?? there is a
6:40am arriving 10:03a,
7:45a arriving 11:09a,
9:23a arriving 12:48a.

Thanks for the input!!

To be honest, your baby's schedule will probably get so mixed up on your trip that starting off a little crazy probably won't hurt! But you want that flight to be as painless as possible, so if your baby is about like mine (who was 17 months on our recent trip), you might want to take the middle flight (7:45a-11somethinga). We chose a similar flight and it worked out well--got the kids (and ourselves) to bed early the night before so we were able to get a decent rest even though we had to get up very early. The baby, who usually doesn't take a morning nap anymore, was happy to play and eat snacks on the plane for a while and then he slept for the last hour of the flight as he was tired from getting up so early--and once he was asleep I was able to sit back and relax!

I think the very early flight would just leave you and baby exhausted on your first day. The latest one would be fine, but maybe the middle one would be a good compromise for DH.

Have lots of fun! Your baby will love WDW! Don't miss the Buzz Lightyear ride--it was our baby's favorite (all 5 times we rode!).

My baby is younger almost 6 months now, but has take several flights and it seems to work best earlier in the day. I'd say any of the morning flights should be fine. Think of which one makes sense for you, since you all will be lugging all of the baies stuff.

We're flying with our 12 month old in less than 2 weeks and we are taking a 6:50am flight out of Philly. We are staying at a hotel at the airport the night before so all we have to do is take the shuttle to the terminal. Our son is an "early riser" but not 5am early. But he is also a pretty laid back baby so I'm not worried. I'm also not expecting him to stick to any type of routine while we're in WDW. I think if I had expectations for feeding times, nap time, etc., I would become very frusturated and not enjoy myself. So I, along with my DH, have decided that we will still do what we want to do and if the baby gets cranky, tired, hungry, etc., we will deal accordingly. I am not even expecting the baby to sleep in the provided Pack N Play at the hotel. I am almost 100% sure he will be sleeping with me and DH. And that's fine! We're on vacation!

Just my 2 cents.

when our son was 9 mths we took an early flight to get the most of our trip. We left at 6:20 arrived at 9:ish.No problem at all we planned so he would be tired and made sure during take off and landing he would have his bottle (helps with ear pain).Last trip he was almost 2 and we gave him a lolly pop . In the end it will all work out have fun..:D

I've never flown with our baby before, but when we go to Disney (Dec, she'll be 13 mo) we plan to take a very early flight. Hopefully, she'll take a bottle or nurse at takeoff and then be pretty tired and sleep most of the flight.

I'm afraid to go later because that's when she gets really playful and I'm sure she won't want to sit in the carseat (we're bringing the carseat and buying a tix so she'll be familiar with it and she usually sleeps pretty well in the car).

Take the earliest flight--they are usually on time. The later in the day it gets, the more likely the flight will be delayed. Even the 8 am flights might be waiting for the plane to arrive from another airport before you can depart. We always take the flight closest to 6am. That plane is at the airport and ready to go. Plus, the airport is empty at that hour so security is much faster. When you go through security with a baby you have so much to pull apart (diaper bag, take baby out of stroller, unpack the bin underneath if it's full, etc). I'm not complaining about the security, but it's easier at 5:30 am!!

jennypenny,

My thoughts exactly! We are taking the earliest flight we could just so that we won't have that "rushed" feeling. When DH and I went on our honeymoon, we left on a Monday and had a 10am flight. Well, it was delayed over 1 1/2 hours! So ever since then I've taken the first flight out and it's been great. I'm hoping that it is still great with our little one!

Thanks for your input, too!
