Flight time changed

This far out, just check on your flights once a week. Make sure the times haven't changed, and if they have, make sure everything still works for you. And make sure you still have your seat assignments.

If your flight time changes, and it is unacceptable for whatever reason, the airlines will work with you if you call them. First go to the web site and chose the flight you would like to be moved to. Then call and ask them to switch you. I've had to do this on a couple of different airlines, and have never had an issue.

I booked with southwest so I never received a seat assignment. Do they give it when u book or when u check in? Should I call AT and ask for it?

You won't get a seat assignment. Are you flying with SW or with Airtran? This transition is causing a lot of angst for people.
IF you are flying with SW, don't worry about changes. SW seldom makes flight time changes. Airtran does the further out you book. I haven't had a flight change with them but that's because I'm usually booking them a week before flying!

I booked online with southwest but my flight to orlando is on AirTran and my flight home is on southwest

I am mad that they should notify me of changes via email and I shouldn't have to look for it myself. 35 minutes isn't going change things much.

Why? This is a not a big deal. You can't ever depend on being notified of these things; you have to look out for yourself.

You need to go to Southwest's website, where you can read the explanation of how seat selection for AirTran works when you book through Southwest. You won't get a seat assignment until you check in for your flight.

It's a customer relations issue. While you're correct, passengers can't rely on the airline and need to look out for themselves, I agree with connie, the AIRLINES should notify you anytime there is a change. I don't care if they change it by 2 minutes every day for six months. They should notify the passengers.

And the argument of "they notify passengers who's flights are closer" is BS too. This is all computerized. It's not like someone needs to go one by one through each flight and send an email.

Now, if someone thinks that's too many emails, they can either opt out of being notified, or send the emails straight to junk mail. Within 24 hours of departure, anything more than a 15 or 30 minute change requires a phone call IMO.

Our August flight times changed on Delta both ways (not by a lot), but more importantly the type of aircraft changed, which messed with our pre-picked seats!!!!! Good thing I go on and check because we got no emails about it!

Ideally I would of liked to been notified, but really, if Im arranging my travel, its really up to me to stay on top of these things. I make it a point to check our reservations frequently (especially if flying a legacy airline). We have had much better luck with flight times staying the same on southwest.

A friend is flying Delta a couple days after our trip is finished and her flight time changed dramatically. She was able to change her flight to one day earlier (which really worked out well for her trip anyways).

Of course! I never said the airlines should not notify passengers of changes via email, just that you can't depend on it. I'm a United Airlines 1K and they only notify me of flight changes via mail/phone the day of the flight. They do, however, notify all PAX of changes on their reservations page of their web site as soon as they occur.

I don't understand people who head out to the airport the day of their flight, never once saving confirmed that their flight is still going on the original date/time.
