I just checked my Airtran reservation and my time changed from originally 3:40 to 6:40 as my departure time....I thought I had heard that if your time changed so much that you would reschedule your flight. Is this correct? Do I call Airtran? Anything specific I should say? I didnt see anything in their policies about this so I wasnt sure if they would fight it. Thanks for all your time and help :)

Yes - call AirTran. Most likely they will allow you to move to another flight without charging you a change fee. Just explain to them that the new flight time is not convenient to your plans. If you booked the flight through a TA or through Disney then the TA or Disney will need to call on your behalf.

Air Tran is notorious for doing this. They have changed our flight times four times since January. Once they even changed days -- i.e. they only fly directly from our city on one day a week. They changed that day after we booked so we had to change our hotel days as well in order to stay on the direct flight. The 2nd time they changed the flight by several hours. The 3rd and 4th times they only changed it by a few minutes.

Very frustrating!

thanks! I wish they would give me the price they were diong today too lol... It went down from 99 to 69...then I suddenly thought hmm why dont I see the flight I originally had???

Check to see what other flights they have first to see what you want to ask to be switched too, they may not be anything better. Also, you could ask for a refund and then rebook at the lower price.

hmm i dont know if they will think 3 hours is a big deal but to me it is! its the difference btwn arriving @7 and arriving @ 11:36 pm

Well I chickened out and couldnt ask for a refund but they changed the flight...Now for my other question....if you do the online check in do you have to arrive as early to the airport?

We just had the same thing happen to us, but with USAIRways! Instead of arriving at 9:15am in Orlando, we now don't arrive until 11:15am. 2 hours might not sound like a big deal, but it is to us because we wanted the first flight arrival of the day since we're getting up at 3am anyway! :rotfl2: I used frequent flyer miles for myself and then paid separately for my DH and DS and they said I could not change the 1st flight (to leave a little later at our originating city since we'll now have a 3 hour layover) because there were no seats available. I was looking right at the seating chart and there were only 3 seats TAKEN! He finally admitted it was because I was using my mileage - so basically it feels like I'm being penalized for being a loyal flier and usage mileage, but can't change. I only booked these a week ago too! Oh well, we'll look at the bright side and have a nice, relaxing breakfast during the layover. :cool1:

Perhaps others should check theirs too because I never got an email notification or text, I only found out by going to the website and just messing around.

Just read this AM that the airlines are planning to cut capacity another 10-15% so I would recommend to anyone flying in the future to check their flight info on a regular basis.

We leave in a couple of weeks and our flight was changed and we don't arrive until 11:30PM now, but at least I received an email notification of the change. Last year Delta didn't notify us and I found out by just doing a routine check of our flights! They bumped us to a different flight and didn't reassign our seats. When I tried to do that there were 5 random seats on the plane - they were going to make our DD (4) sit alone!! After several "angry" phone calls they assigned all 5 seats next to another - I suspect that some other folks may have been displaced around the plane?? Other flight options weren't available because they basically took the 200 or so people from the cancelled flight and disbursed them on other flights.

You're exactly right and I forgot to mention this. Of course we were all sitting together on the flights I originally booked and just like when this happened in the past, I was put somewhere else! I did have them put us back together so this is another very good reason to check and double check! :thumbsup2

Airtran bumped our flight back about 75 minutes. I called, told them that wouldn't work for us. They offered to change us to a different flight, but I said that wouldn't work either. They offered to refund my $$ and I took them up on it. Booked a cheaper flight with another carrier too!

I guess I should have had more of a backbone~! Oh well Ill learn someday....are you flying out of BMI as well?
