Flight time change and car rentals

I got a really good deal on a car rental, but my flight times have changed. Does it matter if I'm late picking up the rental? Will they still honor the price?

They should as long as it doesn't go past midnight.

Reservations through bidding on Priceline are held until midnight but I am told that otherwise rental companies generally don't hold cars past the booked pickup time.

You can call them to find out how much time you have to pick up your rental.

If the rental reservation allow you to put in a flight number then the company should hold the car until the flight arrives.

Alamo/National/ Enterprise will keep your reservation until midnight.
Dollar holds the reservation for 6 hours past your pick up time.

Last year my flight was cancelled and I couldn't fly out until the next day. I tried to make a new reservation to reflect the new dates and the prices were out of this world.

SO, I called Alamo and they said because I was an insider they would hold my reservation for me. I just had to call and they noted I would be in the next day on blah blah blah flight/airline. They said calling is the key.

Remember just because you have a reservation, it does not mean there is an actual car waiting. If you arrive at night, many of the cars may be gone and you may get a different car (upgrade and sometimes a downgrade). However, they will still honor your price.

I would suggest calling the rental agency on day of travel (if possible) and just let them know you were delayed and will be arriving at a later time. This way they can have a vehicle waiting for you if they have it (or a suitable upgrade). If they ask for flight numbers/times, tell them the info for the last leg (arrival into MCO/TPA). Flights get delayed all the time and people get shifted to different flights, as well. Standard activity at the airport, so they are used to it.

Vehicles will be held until the end of the business day on the scheduled pickup date or for 12 hours, whichever comes first, for any delayed flights.

"
If you are arriving after closing the pickup date and time should be changed to the next day.
