Do you think that $500 average price for air to Orlando is going to be the norm going forward? Had to bite the bullet to get the Feb vacation dates that I needed yesterday when SW opened their booking window.

I see you're in NH. Does SW fly nonstop to Orlando from Manchester?

I'm in Boston and SW isn't non stop from Logan!

I've been watching for that same time period (just before President's weekend thru midweek) and JetBlue and Delta are both ~$500.

I'm thinking I just need to book and suck up the insane fare....

Yes, it's a non-stop to/from Manchester. Looked at Boston but their prices were worse. Paid $270 last year, $500 this year. Flight is very early too which is a pain.

I never recommend booking more than 10 to 8 weeks prior - your dates are in February - I wouldn't book until closer to November/December depending on what your actual date of travel is.

The airline is not incentified to drop the airfare 6 months out so they don't.

There was an article recently on yahoo that said the average flight was up a lot from last yr and a sign of things improving for people as a whole
It went on to say the average was $505 or something like that

I know what I will be comfortable paying....I book when I see that fare, or lower. Now...I usually book with JetBlue, so can get a credit if/when fares go down. But, that isn't going to work with the legacy airlines. Feb vacation is historically higher.....supply, demand. People want to fly south, so fares are going to be high.
