Have'nt posted a thread for a long time. With us not going back to the house of mouse this year i'm experiencing a little green eyed monster to all of you who are returning. Anyway we were going to try and have a break and try another holiday destination but we have been looking for some time and knowwhere is really taking ou fancy. So i have started looking at flight prices and OMG to go in summer holidays i think we will need to revise our plan. Virgin and BA are charging silly money just for a flight!
I don't know whether it's because i've left it late (always try and book as early as poss) and all the cheaper seats are gone but at this rate will be lucky if we return in the next 2 years. Last year we flew with Virgin and paid for my dad(+my familyx3) 3 weeks, car and villa all came in at £4825. Just looked at BA and a couple of hundred less just for flights. Anyone with any good ideas???

Most people have had to pay over their budget, including us. Some may cancel & some have got deals from London to Miami. Some have gone first class as an offer came up with BA making it cheaper than some Virgin economy flights. So it's not that you've left it too late, there has just not been any. I booked last March for last August, indirect & got a good deal (£300) but I don't think there will be any this year. Hope i'm wrong & you can get something at least reasonable.

There have been very few low prices for summer holidays.
The best I have seen was AA Direct from London to Miami at £400pp.
Into Orlando Some managed to get Continental codeshare on Virgin flights for about £600.
Apart from that there has not been many offers at all, from Manchester I watched Virgin flights rise from around £700 when released to a peak of around £1,300 at this point I saw an offer with Delta business Elite for £1,170pp and decided to book those.
Hopr the prices drop for anyone still looking but not looking good just now.

It's the prices at Christmas time:santa: that i have been watching & i just hope that they will come down!! Oh well could end up being a very expensive Christmas:lmao:

I have just looked at flights again - we already booked with Continental - £1780 for 2 adults and one infant on lap in peak school summer hols - the flights now are showing twice that and more!

Well were doing the unthinkable and cancelling our october 2010 holiday.

Normally I book our flights as soon as they are released, this year due to one thing or another I didnt and am now looking at £1345.00 each economy or £1798.00 PE. This year it will cost us £2230.00 more to fly economy than PE last year and I'm just not prepared to do it.:sad2:

Just waiting now to see if the free DDP offer with 42% off SSR come out for next year so I can transfer my deposit over:rolleyes1

i understand completely. Thats why my cousin and I decided to drive instead of fly.. well there are several good reasons..

THe expense: flying is becoming much more expensive than driving, driving may take longer, but less expensive. By the time you get through the extra prices for luggage, extra luggage, oversize luggage, overweight luggage.. etc..

TOo much of a hassle to fly: again with all the extra prices for luggage you gotta worry if its too heavy or too big, or taking too many..

What to take. With so many new regulations, your really kinda limited as to what you can bring

With driving, there really are no limits as to what or how much you can bring (well as much as your vechile can hold), nor extra prices for any of it.. Plus if you want to go offsite at anytime, to Universal, SeaWorld, Olde Town, etc then you can.. and no worries about transportaion

my cousin and I plan to go to universal and Seaworld while we are down there.. but take disney transportation back and forth to the parks. then drive to universal and seaworld..

just gotta figure out what works best for you. But i think driving is the better option all the way around.

You post caught my eye! We are trying to fly a group of 28 from Oklahoma to Orlando In December and the prices are simply outlandish! Over double what we usually pay! We're hoping they go down. Good luck to you! Flights this year are crazy priced!

I wish I could drive next year! We have been watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang so no need to check flight schedules next year. Good.

Ditto!

We are very disappointed, but were lucky enough to visit at Christmas so don't feel too sad. I'm planning another trip somewhere anyway, hopefully somewhere where the flight prices won't be so ridiculous!

We've also got the 42% and free DDP offer booked. I was going to cancel it tomorrow - I didn't realise you can transfer the deposit, I thought we would lose it. I'll wait a few weeks and join you in waiting for the 2011 dates to be released. Thanks for the heads up, you might have just saved us £250! :thumbsup2:goodvibes

If 2011 is released I will be in a big dilema for next year! I was going to book a villa but have a feeling I will love OKW and free dining. Hope it isn't released too soon!!

I am so sorry to read of anyone having to change plans due to flights. Hopefully next year will be better.
