Flight of Passage vs Rise of the Resistance

Better ride?

They're both great rides but they are very different, so its hard to compare. Rise is an actual ride where you sit in a vehicle and move about. FOP is a simulator, which some people hate but some people love and find it feels more immersive.

Love them both, but if I could only choose one to ride, I'd pick Rise. And I say that as a very casual Star Wars fan.
Completely agree. I love all the different elements that RoTR has.

FOP, hands down. And we're huge Star Wars nuts in this family, but if given the choice, we'll ride FOP as many times as possible. It's just exhilarating in a one-of-a-kind way (comparing it to Soarin' is not even remotely fair/close....couldn't be more different and immersive.) ROTR is amazing but I'm always nervous something will be skipped or go wrong still and that literally takes away from the enjoyment factor.

The last time we rode it we finished the Rey pre-show and were walking toward getting on the transport ship when the lights came on.
We were taken down a back corridor and suddenly popped up in the Star Destroyer room with the Star Troopers. No story of how you got there.
The ride was still very good, but definitely hurt the story (but glad they had a way to let you finish the ride).

I don't like the endless FOP pre-show, or the ride, or the obligatory gift shop. Rise wasn't working completely when I got to ride it, so I am looking forward to another shot in 2022!

I'm impressed by the sheer size of the RotR footprint and layout but as a ride I felt pretty underwhelmed. Same trackless ride tech as TDL WtP/ DHS Runaway railway among others, which while impressive, doesn't really make it stand out as something so different and innovative. I didn't find it especially thrilling. I am also not a huge SW person so that may also have something to do with it.

I loved FoP the first time I rode it. Had extremely low expectations which helped. It won't age well and can already tell it's just not as thrilling now as those first few times.

If I had to choose I'd say RoTR but frankly, I can give or take both of them. If I can get a boarding group for Rise, I do ride it but if I can't get a boarding group, it's not the end of the world. FoP makes me slightly sick, not throwing up sick but not happy either. When I ride it, I'm mostly thinking I'll be glad when it's over.

I'm a BIG fan of SF. i.e. anything Star Wars. But.....I was let down on the ride. I will try it again, but everyone raved about it soooo much. I watched YouTube. Guess I shouldn't have because parts were not working the one and only time I have ridden. And then there was the plex glass.,.

Love FoP.

I don't think I can really separate out in my mind the inconvenience of ROTR. The boarding group stress, the disappointment of the failed attempts, all the delays from the ride outages, the plexiglass. It's hard to enjoy a ride under all those circumstances.

The mumbling dude in the FoP preShow also makes me want to chew barbed wire.
The worst of the mumbling is gone, along with the scanning for parasites and collecting DNA. I hope they never bring any of that back. I’d rather stand in line a few minutes longer if I can skip those parts!

I love both, but then again, I love most Disney rides and attractions.
Both are part of the immersive part of their land.
To me, I think RotR wins out a bit, but again, like comparing apples and oranges.
Have also been on both during a shutdown. FoP was about 15 minutes, RotR was about an hour...

Does anyone else beside me wish they would add another ride/attraction on each of these "Planets"

I am simply in awe of RotR, and I think it's the more impressive and immersive attraction overall. I still can't believe how good it is when it's firing on all cylinders. BUT....FoP gives me all the feels. It is the only attraction that's really moved me emotionally. The music at the end of FoP gets me every time. If I had to choose only one to ride, I think I would choose FoP.

Apples and oranges, y'all...

I love Flight of Passage. Haven't had the opportunity to ride Rise of the Resistance.
I would ride FoP over and over again if they would let me-ha
I did one of the After Hours in 2019 and I rode it 3 times in a row. I had to exit and walk back through the line. After the 3rd time, I decided not to do it anymore because it was taking longer for the walk than the ride. LOVE FOP !

I have ridden ROTR 10 or so times. If I don't get a boarding pass, then I am disappointed but truthfully it is not one of my top 5.

I thought ROTR was an absolutely awesome experience from a total ride perspective. However, I was so disappointed in the final two movies of the new trilogy that the story of ROTR did not excite me at all. When I was a kid, I dreamed of going to a Star Wars Land, I find myself disappointed in Galaxy's Edge though because I just have no connection to the new trilogy. I am completely in awe of what imagineering did with the ride and the land, but oddly enough, I have zero emotional connection to it, other than annoyance about what could have been if Darth Vader, Han, Luke and Leia were the stars. Of course, I know people who love the new trilogy, so your mileage will definitely vary.

With Avatar it was the exact opposite. I thought the movie was cool, but have only seen it once when it was in theatres over a decade ago. But wow, they really knocked it out of the park with that ride, I think it is the music and visuals. It may be in the same family as Soarin, but it is executed perfectly.

Tough call, and when ROTR is firing on all cylinders it is amazing. However, when your whole day revolves around this ride, and only 60% of it is working correctly, the letdown is palpable. Even worse, when you can't get on the ride, it literally can kill the enjoyment of the day.

When I went in August I was able to do FOP 5 times in a row. They had a CM at the exit of the ride directing people through a back door that led directly to that hallway the FP line goes up before the lines split for each room. So super short walk, and then walked right back into a pre show room. That was great, but since it was so short between each ride I started getting a little dizzy and had to stop. But I could've easily kept going since there was zero line. Don't think we'll ever see that again.
