I have yet to experience the first time I rode it when it first came out. The glasses and screen was so clear that it was so emotional. Now its more blurry and not as clear. It is disappointing

I felt that the ride was blurry and out of focus but thought it was just me. Some parts I'd take my 3D glasses off and the drop in quality wasn't that noticeable so I figured it was just me. Does anyone know why that happens over time to a film like this?

It happened over at Universal with the T2 show, it was pretty bad when we saw it in September 2017 just before it closed for good. But to my knowledge it was pretty fast happening over at FOP.

We rode FOP first not long after it opened in September 2017 it was great, but in 2022 which was the next time we rode it it was out of sync and from other comments over time it had been that way for a while already. Unfortunate to hear it's only gotten worse especially with so many parts either not functioning well or obviously noisy when it shouldn't be.

There is now financial incentive to keep it running. And that trumps everything now.

It was for sure blurry before that. We first rode in summer 2017 and it's the only time the bioluminescent floating mountain was not blurry. (We went again in fall 2017, and 5-6 times per year ever since.) The blurriness has gotten progressively worse, and is now in other scenes as well.

Genuinely curious: If it's the glasses, then why are only some scenes blurry? The bioluminescent cave scene *before* the bioluminescence "turns on" has been blurry for years (I've noticed it since mid-2017). However as soon as the bioluminescence turns on, the blurriness is gone (or mostly gone). Other scenes used to not be blurry, even though the cave scene is. Now the opening scene (as soon as you enter Pandora) is getting bad.

Honestly the grinding noise was so bad, we thought something was about to have a catastrophic break. If my car made that noise, I'd pull over immediately.

Yeesh yeah that's bad, I too would be worried about a ride malfunction

We just rode this week and I thought it was my glasses! I hope they prioritize this. AK is already struggling with attractions

I'm glad to hear it's not just me. We too have noticed it getting more and more blurry each visit, I was blaming it on trying to wear the 3D goggles over my glasses.

Super interesting (and sad). We just rode it this week for the first time, and my husband remarked he was surprised how blurry it was. I'm sorta glad to hear it hasn't always been this way, but agree with all the comments, it's a shame if they don't do anything to address it, would love to see it in its glory someday.

Especially considering some people are paying extra for the lightning lane! Can they use some of those profits to replace the glasses?

Disney seems to be putting greed over the guest's enjoyment. The costs just keep going up and up and they are planning expansions without properly maintaining some of the main attractions. They need to buy new glasses if that is the problem or fix the issue. It is sad to see the decline at the parks as far as rides breaking down and the overall appearance of the park is not what it once was.

I have been visiting the Mouse since the park first opened and enjoyed many trips over the years. My trip next month may be our last. I have a 6 day stay at Pop Century with a 4 day ticket not a park hopper and Disney Dining Plan Table Service for 2 adults. I added Memory Maker and it was $4,000. This is expensive even for 2 people. I can't imagine taking a family with children or adding air fare. Thankfully, we live close enough for it to be a 1 day drive.

The devious part of me feels like engaging on that very issue (LL costs versus ride quality degradation) in my next visit. I'll inevitably pay for the ILL at least once, and I sort of want to evaluate the ride quality and provide (if applicable, which I suspect it will be) a specific complaint that the experience has fallen short due to a lack of upkeep, especially as a ILL ride. Now, to be fair, you aren't paying for the ride with the ILL - you are paying to avoid a majority of the line. But you are paying for the ride with the AK ticket, so maybe I'll take that tack. How would I go about creating and communicating a complaint specific to that?

Do we know for sure it's the glasses? And if so, would there be an inexpensive option that we could maybe buy online and bring our own? Figure we could also use them on some of the other rides too like TSMM? ETA: I looked it up and we would have to get Dolby 3D glasses to bring. Not cheap but maybe via eBay, but then we would still have to make room in our luggage and carry them around.

I'm pretty certain that the FoP 3-D glasses are custom to the ride, and quite a bit more expensive than the normal ride 3-D glasses. But I don't have that data point at hand, so possible I am wrong.
