Our flight is not due in until 9:30, meaning we will not get to PBR until around 11:00. What happens if for some reason out flight is really late getting to Orlando and we decide it is just easier to stay near the airport? Will we have to pay for the PBR room if we cancel a night?

I'm assumming PBR is Portifino Bay Resort? Not familiar with staying non-Disney but I'd think they probably have similar cancelation policies. I know with WDW resorts, if you cancel even one night and are within the 5 days prior for room only ressies (or45days with a package), you will have to pay anyway unless you have trip insurance.

Even if you get in during the middle of the night, the resorts are 24hrs at the front desk and your room should still be there since it was already reserved so I'd just check in at PBR. Then you won't have to drive there in the morning besides;)

I agree. I think even the most agreeable resorts are going to charge if not given 24hrs notice of cancellation of a day of your stay.... and some require even more notice than that.

I just hate to waste money on that fine hotel if all we are going to see the first night is the pillow. :D We stay two nights and are only doing the park one day.

We do have trip insurance, so we will be prepared if the worse happens.

We stayed at Royal Pacific resort in Jan for a few days and we work for the airlines so we fly standby. I asked on their policy if we need to cancel due to the fact we didnt make a flight. They told me that I can cancel and they will let me use that night within a year I believe. They said that we would not get our money back but like a credit for one night stay since it was paid for and we didnt use it.

As it turned out everything went fine and there were no problems but see if they still offer such a policy. It might help in case of delays! Good luck!

That's interesting!

Trying to use a reservation within a year would end up costing me more than what I would lose in the room. I can just see it now. Free room = another few nights stay plus flight, food, transportation, tickets, etc.

We're also arriving late to Royal Pacific. I called them today and they told me as long as we would be there by midnight it would be fine. She said if we got delayed to call because their system rolls over at 1:30 AM and we'd be bounced as a no-show.

You said your flight comes in at 9:30 and you wouldn't get there until around 11pm even if your flight was NOT late... unless I'm reading that wrong and you meant 11am? But if you meant 11pm... then apparently even if your flight is on time- you'll still only be using the hotel to sleep that first night... in which case maybe you should cancel now and just PLAN on spending the first night somewhere else cheaper?

You read it correctly. We figure that 11:00 pm is not too late for us to see the grounds, and get settled in (three adult children). We also do want to be up early and at the parks ASAP the next morning. If we were not getting in until, say 1:00 am, then the main mission would be BED.
