Flight experts - is this a good deal for upper class?

Well, I flew with Virgin in December, for the first time and loved it. I live in the North, so the direct flights from Manchester are great.

Well, I've booked an 8 night trip in May and couldn't get economy at all for our dates - so I paid £3k for premium economy for return trip for four adults and two children. It probably isn't the greatest deal, but most economy flights for these dates were around the £2k mark and we really hate flights that don't have the seatback entertainment, and many don't.

Anyway - fast forward to October, it will be my honeymoon - last two weeks of October (half term occurs during this period, i know, because my mom will be looking after the kids).

We are hoping to fly into Orlando and return from there - getting a domestic flight to and from Aruba (our first week is in Aruba on a DVC exchange and our second wk we are doing in Disney at Saratoga).

Well, out of curiousity, I looked up Upper Class Virgin flights for our dates and it was about £2940 return in total for the two of us. I thought it would be a lot more expensive, but I didn't intend to book the flights just yet - i normally book about three months out. But, is this a good deal - I noticed there aren't many upper seats on the plane and it will be half term?

Also, how is flying in upper? I've always used economy, but would like to try something nice for honeymoon and was exhausted from our last trip for at least a week (I run a small business, so the exhaustion probably cost me a lot in time and productivity). Is it possible to sleep well on the return journey?

Sorry for the long post, but I haven't done this before and would appreciate a little info from the experts. Thanks.

£2940 for two is a good price for upper class during half term. I am guessing that was for a "Z" ticket, so you might not get the chauffeur service included in the price. I think UC is well worth the extra, especially just for two. Compared to PE, it is actually better value in my opinion.

You can start with entrance to the wonderful clubhouse at Gatwick and then you have priority boarding and disembarking on the plane. The new upper class suites are truly divine - wonderful, flat beds that are really soft and comfortable. The freedom food service lets you choose exactly what you want to eat, whenever you like. There is a bar as well. There's lots of information about the Upper Class benefits on the VA website (which I am sure you have already looked at!). One of the best bits for me is skipping those horrible security queue's at the airport. With your Upper Class ticket you can use the FastTrack line and get straight through to departures much faster.

It is definitely possible to sleep well on the return journey. We are usually in PE with our three children, but when it is just DH and I we go for UC and I really notice the difference. I struggle to get comfortable and actually sleep in the PE seats, but having the fully flat bed (and the wonderful bedding) in UC makes it a perfect sleeping environment.

I would go for it and make it a perfect honeymoon to remember!

At that price and for your honeymoon go for it :teeth: Would love to try the flat beds :)

We are taking our first Upper Class flight in February, I will let you know what we think on our return. :earsgirl:

Thanks everyone - i booked it and was so glad i did. I did wonder if it was true about flight prices going up the more they got booked up, so i searched the price again straight after i booked and it had gone up by £400!!

Am so excited - have booked the front seats - no 6. Does anyone know how these seats are? Thought they might be nice because they are close to each other.
