I have never booked a flight so this is new to me. My dh and I are looking at a Wine and Dine weekend 1/2 marathon Sept. / Oct. For a long weekend trip of like 3-5 days.

We could fly out of Nashville or St. Louis. St. Louis would be the best option because my sister could drop us and pick us up.

Does anyone know what a flight would cost around this time?

Is it better to book a long ways out or wait and buy right before.

Where do you look for flight prices?

Well I have surfed around and found that Allegiant Air flies somewhat locally. (within the a four hour drive)

However it doesnt enable us to use Magic Express once there since it flies into Sanford.

So still needing any suggestions on where to look for cheap flights.

Is it reasonable to think that 2 people could do round trip for under 300?

Two people, r/t for under $300, from your area to Florida??? Probably not. You may find fare that is slightly lower than that for one person. I fly from Boston to MCO, and am thrilled to find fares that are under $250 pp, r/t.
You can use a travelocity or expedia to check out what fares might be for your time frame. If you find something that appeals to you, go to the airlines official site directly. I never advise booking through a middle man.

The vast majority of flights into Sanford are a bit less expensive, but as you've found, you have to get yourself from there to WDW...there is no 'reasonable' transportation. I would check out travelocity and/or expedia and see what pops up. You have a fairly long time to watch...who knows what will happen between now and then.
